The point is that, for most journeys, you just charge at home overnight. It's rare to plug in and wait for it to charge. With petrol / gas, you always have to wait

Imagine being able to afford rent. I just live with my parent and hate it every day!

If you own a long piece of wood, a flat piece of wood, and some paint, you could make this a reality rather than just paying someone at random $5

Beds aren’t for everyone. I sleep on a mattress on the floor and have done for about eight years. It’s so convenient having everything in reach (rather than cramming things on to a small bedside table which just takes up space) and I prefer to be on the floor anyway. I also sit on the floor to read and eat.

For some people, underneath the mattress gets wet, mouldy or gross. It’s worth checking every couple of weeks if you sleep on the floor, but it’s never happened to me throughout multiple different houses. Maybe my mattress is magic :)

I don’t want to dismiss your experience, but I will point out that everyone around you was most likely raised in a capitalist environment where greed is very much emphasised. Also, I’m sorry that the people around you suck.

I like the idea of exploring space or futuristic cities/landscapes and being on a journey together with the protagonist. The story doesn’t have to have...

I wrote a really long praise of Foundation before I realised that you’ve just said you already like it… instead I’ll just say have you read Caves of Steel and its sequels? They are set about 20k years before Foundation and are also very good
