Is it because they actually started doing shit?

As I understand it, there is a difference between “softening” and “conditioning”, and almost all the saltless systems are “conditioners”,but for most people it doesn’t matter.

I’ve been intrigued by the magnetic ones, just because they sound and look like the snake oil things that are sold to increase gas mileage in cars, but actually seem to work.

Interesting, i use Citric for descaling the CPAP humidifier and coffee machine.

I suppose it’s just like those things you can put on the end of your garden hose that meters out the correct dose based on flow rate, but permanently mounted.

These (don’t) suck. Anything fabric causes too much drag on the brush and they don’t spin. I have an older Dyson that I tried to use it with maybe a shop vac would work better?

We have an original Shark handheld vacuum that worked great on the stairs but it started overheating.

Now I just use the plain brush attachment on the dyson’s hose and rub it around in different patterns. It does seem to work.

I don’t have the original one for my vacuum, just a “hart” one. Basically Walmart store brand.

Probably the reason it doesn’t work.

so there are rooms to the “north” of the laundry room, but is there anything to the north of the garage?

just punch a hole through the “north” wall of the garage, and run vent duct out that way?

edit: my house is laid out the same and the vent just goes up into the rafter space, and then out one end of the house.

These are combination ionizing/photoelectric. Some of them are also CO detectors. Maybe going to just PE would help?

If you have ever seen a “welder outlet” in an industrial setting, the switchbox/disconnect associated with it is basically what you are looking for. Has a handle you can lock out with a padlock

Just started Howl’s Moving Castle. Liking it so far!

Not exactly like the movie, but it’s pretty close.
