The white supremacist group Patriot Front is suing a left-wing activist for allegedly infiltrating the group and revealing the identities of members, USA Today reported. The funny thing about free speech is that naming who is part of a hate group can likely be argued as free speech moreso than "whaaah, we got fired for the awful shit we said", given that it's called freedom of speech and not freedom from the consequences of my speech. Doubly so when you're talking about consequences brought about by a private organization/not the government. After all, their place of employment has freedom of speech rights too, as well as the ability to choose who they associate with.

Republicans need every vote they can get our else even their cheating won't work. He literally can't afford to alienate the people who threatened his life.
The difference between USA and the other countries with shorter election seasons is voting for a person to lead versus representatives who will elect their leader. Just look at off presidential elections to get an idea of a USA shortened election season. So, parliamentary governments have the citizens elect their equivalent of house and senate members; who then vote in their “president”. Good old US of A likes a cage match for the top spot, so you get the contestants parading around forever.
Investigators from the House Ethics Committee have begun reaching out to witnesses as part of a recently revived investigation into Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, focused on allegations that he may have engaged in sexual misconduct, illicit drug use or other misconduct.
Republicans in the battleground states of Michigan and Arizona are paying a high price for their full-throated support of former President Donald Trump and his lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
This is good news, but I worry that folks on the left might be lulled into a false sense of security. We won't be done fixing Trump and MAGA's mess for years to come and we'll need every last vote and any help that can be given. I really believe complacency got us here and it will destroy this country if we let it.
Did you ever have that feeling on reddit of "I better word my post just right, otherwise AutoMod will take it down"? Some subs had such strict auto moderating that it was a crap shoot to post something. Not so here. I know there's value in moderation, and I'm sure Lemmy/kbin/etc. will add more of it with time. But, for now, it...
I didn’t post a lot but I was definitely anxious about commenting because if it wasn’t worded just right, someone would take it out of context and be offended by it or downvote it to hell. I remember telling someone that I loved their poems - downvoted. I corrected someone about the difference between ESAs and service dogs - cue arguments when they can just literally read the ADA (law). I apologized for getting something wrong - insults and talked down to. I also remember being told that latinx is what trans Latinos want people to use, I used it and was greatly talked down to and told I’m not a real Latino. It felt like reddit was just really hostile no matter what I did. There were many times I wrote a comment but then discarded it.
