Unfortunately, people tend to buy vehicles to best accomplish 1% of their driving. I live in the suburbs and almost every house has a giant pickup parked in front. Not because people are in the construction business and need to haul a lot of stuff, but because once a year they might go to Home Depot and it feels good to put their two bags of mulch in the back.

Now I'm just sitting here picturing you saying stuff like "Careful don't touch that! That pan is ho!"

Ah gotcha. Yeah you should check out the books if you're liking the show! The books go into a ton more detail and the Staircase Project is pretty cool. Seeing it on the screen is cool too, but if you really wanna nerd out I highly recommend the books.

I love The Three Body Problem, both the books and the show. But it bothered me to no end to read Netflix's Three Body Problem.

My kids got just enough cursive in school to learn how to sign their names. Definitely not 3-4 years of it. Maybe 3-4 weeks at the most.

Highly recommend checking out the giraffes at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado. You can feed them!

Also what’s with the girl next to her wearing an “Obama you’re fired” shirt? Obama has been ineligible to run for president for a while now. I mean, so has Trump, but at least Obama isn’t forcing a Supreme Court ruling about it.

jballs , to Work Reform in Panera Bread exempt from following California’s new $20 minimum wage law due to relationship with Gov. Newsom: reports
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

"Sir, I ran the numbers. We can expand the restaurant to add ovens for the bakery to sell fresh bread. It’ll cost us $2,000,000 for the expansion and we’re projecting to lose half a million a year in operating costs. Or we can just pay our dozen employees an extra $2 an hour, making our employees happier, increasing retention rates, reducing training costs, and all in all just being the right thing to do "

“Good work, Johnson. I want those ovens up and running by Monday.”

Haha I wasn’t looking for a quote, I was just making the “citation needed” joke that XKCD throws into a lot of stuff.

I think it was more like the guy before him drug us into multiple, decades long wars - then the guy after him tried to overthrow our democracy and instill himself as president after losing an election. So having an 8 year break of semi-normalcy was refreshing.

jballs , to Politics in Alaska Considers Joining Colorado in Disqualifying Trump From Primary Ballot
@jballs@sh.itjust.works avatar

This headline is clickbait.

TLDR; some guy you never heard of is running for the Republican nomination for president. In September, he sued to have Trump removed from the primary ballot in Alaska and dozens of other states. The article makes no mention of an upcoming trial date or anything said or done by an election official or judge.
