So… when will there be PowerPoints and training that will now be required as a result of this incident? Now DoD employees will have to sit through yet another hour-long presentation about how to not make spelling mistakes lol.
Emails sent from the .MIL domain to the .ML addresses “are blocked before they leave the .mil domain and the sender is notified that they must validate the email addresses of the intended recipients," Gorman said.
So they aren’t actually making it to the .ml addresses? I can’t tell if I’m not understanding something properly or someone is lying or what
That’s only for emails sent from the .mil domain. Emails sent from other domains don’t have the same filters in place. The issue is that plenty of other domains are attempting to send emails to the .mil domain and are actually sending to the .ml domain. The article only confirms a filter is in place for .mil users, so it’s entirely possible that .gov users have no such filter. Plenty of government workers with .gov domains would be trying to send sensitive info to .mil users. Or government contractors, who would have a whole bunch of possible domains, would be trying to send to the .mil domain and failing.
It’s a pretty big, and stupid, breach, but I’m not sure how you get everyone who’s not part of your closed system to ensure they’re typing out .mil correctly.
That wouldn’t really make a difference here, I don’t think. A standard encrypted email just ensures that only the intended recipient can open it. Since the addressed recipients were the .ml domain, the emails would still be accessible by the wrong people.
Email encryption is kind of broken, but kind of in a good way: if you don’t have the recipient’s key, then you can’t send an encrypted email. Since there would be no reason for senders of sensitive info intended for .mil receivers, to have the key for an equivalent receiver at a .ml domain, the emails would just fail to send, stopping any leak before it happened.
Children and teens in foster care across California will be able to attend state and community colleges free of charge under legislation signed into law this week.
Through the new Fostering Futures program, the state will allocate $25 million to cover tuition for foster youth attending a California State University, University of California or a community college, according to state Sen. Angelique Ashby’s office.
No place is perfect. There are many places doing better, but they have gone through all the other cycles of shittery, and have landed on better. I have hopes for the west coast.
Including room and board and books. A foster youth exiting high school or aging out of the system can now depend on four years of housing in exchange for getting an education. Fucking awesome, and why I’m proud to be a Californian.
The fact that this actually acknowledges that room and board and textbooks has to be included for it to be truly free and accessible to the recipients is incredible. Wonderful news!
Do we want innovation and increased prosperity instead of crime? Because this is how we get innovation and increased prosperity.
Send kids who started at a disadvantage to free college, you’re gonna get innovation and increased prosperity. There’s no getting around it. It’s gonna make everyone better off. I hope that’s what California wants, because that’s what they’re going to get.
Maybe that’s why they haven’t cracked down on him. Justice is about accountability and preventing future harm, it’s not supposed to be purely punitive or retaliatory, and if he exiled himself and was convicted in absentia that would take care of a lot of issues vs the hazard of him being a “political prisoner” for years on end.
Many coup and counter-coup leaders in history end up in exile as a bargain: don’t try to retake the throne and bring more pain to our people and we won’t seek vengeance.
But Trump himself hasn’t done too much awful stuff: it’s his insane followers who have killed people and tried to overthrow the government, he just rides those waves. Could you imagine what DeSantis could do to rile up actual fascism if America executed Trump for treason? Never givea heavily armed fascist 40% of a country a martyr.
Trump in exile still gives him internet access and the ability to speak to and direct his followers…
Allowing him to escape justice IS the worst possible scenario in my book. Who cares if he’s not president if he’s directing his terrorist goons to cause more harm or deaths here in the States while he sits comfortably elsewhere after getting away with everything he’s done.
There is ample evidence of coordination between Trump’s people and far right leaders. That’s how the mob works: the bosses never give direct orders to the guys on the ground.
Im not American, but I would never vote for a dude that’s spent time on Epstein Island.
Plus he’s absolutely insane so it makes no sense to vote for him.
The real problem is the opposition candidates they put up.
Hillary is incredibly unlikeable, possible a murderer. Creepy Joe is clearly suffering with dementia. A dude that can’t control his own bowl movements is in no fit state to be in charge of anything.
I’d just abstain from voting in the US and complain about the results either way.
Conjunction fallacy – the assumption that an outcome simultaneously satisfying multiple conditions is more probable than an outcome satisfying a single one of them
Non-sequitur fallacy – where the conclusion does not logically follow the premise
Affirming the consequent – the antecedent in an indicative conditional is claimed to be true because the consequent is true; if A, then B; B, therefore A

Remember when trump took four hours to go on TV and tell his people to go home, that he loves them. And later referred to them as great patriots?
Meanwhile during those 4 hours refusing to release the national gaurd, even though he had other senators ask him to. He tweeted and watched the news. Remember also that the police were short staffed that day and the precautions that should have been put in place were denied.
Within 30 minutes of Trump’s speech ending the capitol was declared a riot.
So I guess if you want to be really technical and say he didn’t cause this because he never explicitly ordered it (except remember during the debates where he said “proud boys to stand back and stand by”) … but he definitely dragged his feet trying to prevent or stop it and then did a half assed job. It would be hard to convince me he wasn’t at least glad this happened.
