Earlier in the pandemic many news and magazine organizations would proudly write about how working from home always actually can lead to over working and being too “productive”. I am yet to collect some evidence on it but I think we remember a good amount about this....
So, I just need to rant for a minute about what’s just happened. It’s made me feel fairly disposable as a worker. I work in I.T. support. I help people who can’t operate technology with highly complicated issues. I am highly skilled, well trained and I have a diverse set of understanding for technical issues....
Are the same petty mods running this show? If so, please ban me immediately. I don’t see how you can reconcile claiming to fight labor exploitation while at the same time giving away your labor for free to a billion dollar company.
the colleague in question feels that only her way of doing things is the right one and expects me to adapt to her way of thinking and her logic. This is tiring and burdensome because I have to force me to stop doing things automatically and efficiently, but think how she wants it done and do it her way. I work worse when this...
I've observed if I say nothing (because I simply don't know how to react), opinionated people think you agree with them, which I don't. I don't care....
I'm a man and so far this has happened only with other men, but I'm genuinely baffled as to why some people do this. It has happened thrice so far in 3 different work settings:...
Yesterday I had an interview for a certain position. Last Monday it had been scheduled for one location but on Friday it got moved to another. They also initially...
Thanks for subscribing to /c/[email protected] ! Now that we’ve grown (and are growing) so quickly, I’ve had some calls to discuss what this community is for!...
I’m a nurse working shifts and sometimes 5 days without a pause and I still don’t know if I’m gonna take one of the 2 9 to 5 jobs my hospital system has offered. I’d earn less money, but I’m already 45 years old and I don’t know if I should call it quits and settle for a regular job 5 days a week and free weekends...
Got laid off in June and have been fortunate enough to be on gardening leave until the end of this month. The job search has not gone well so far and I started getting desperate....
I am so sick of employee engagement surveys and the resulting exercise in futility around soliciting changes that never get made. It’s honestly one of the more evil and deceitful processes that capitalism and academia have ever teamed up to create.
i worked as a manager for a cafe, me and my boss had a good relationship texting after hours, bonus’s. in lock down i was furloughed so i moved across to another city to live with my partner through lock down, my boss out-of-the-blue calls me in the evening telling me to go into work the next morning, something that wasn’t...
