I’ve been learning some about rabies and learned about rabies causing hydrophobia. This is just a theory, I’m not saying I know anything about this topic to be knowledgeable, but if we could get someone with rabies to not fear water, could they survive?
So, I learned in physics class at school in the UK that the value of acceleration due to gravity is a constant called g and that it was 9.81m/s^2. I knew that this value is not a true constant as it is affected by terrain and location. However I didn’t know that it can be so significantly different as to be 9.776 m/s^2 in...
I am talking about gadgets we see in science fiction movies that obey the laws of physics of our universe and could theoretically be constructed, barring the limitations of materials, energy and time faced by our civilization at the moment.
The nuclear pulse propulsion ship from the novel Footfall.
The technology to produce a spaceship powered by exploding nuclear bombs is fairly basic. It needs to be heavy, and it needs to have massive springs to damper the shock, and thats about it.
It is depressing, everywhere in the world. I work full-time in the tech industry in a capital city and earn about 100k AUD, with about $60k in savings. Not only can I not borrow enough to buy a home in the city, I also can’t get a rental because in a city of 2 million, there are only 1000 rental properties on the market, and their prices have increased by 80% in the last 5 years.
I currently live in my car. Its not too bad. Im saving a tremendous amount of money not paying rent or mortgage. Im comitted to never renting again even if one becomes available to me, and I wont buy in the city, my 2-year plan is to move to a very small regional town, purchasing a block of land with a crappy house on it with a 50% deposit and transition to working remotely while I renovate it and raise some chickens, a veggie garden, maybe a pig too.
I have no family money to help me, every dollar I’ve ever had is one I earned myself. Eventually, ill inherit two houses assuming my divorced parents don’t cock something up with them, but that wont be til im already approaching retirement age.
So i got into a disagreement with ChatGPT about whether you earn more interest overall if you contribute daily rather than monthly, if the overall contribution over 1 year is the same....
So investing my money into savings right after I get paid weekly is the best strat then, which is what im doing. If i got paid daily, then investing daily would be the best strat.
I wasnt actually trying to minmax my savings interest, I guess I was just confused by the robots’ counterintuitive answer but it makes sense now.

This is probably a dumb question, but if we eliminate the hydrophobia caused by rabies, would it increase the survival rate of active rabies?

Does everyone learn the same gravity in school or is it different everywhere?
