Anyone else out there who actually really loved Discovery's S1 style of Klingons?

I am the kind of person who enjoys “big weird” scifi like Stanisław Lem. Stories about trying to relate to and find common ground with something so alien that the prospect of even understanding is basically hopeless. Star Trek usually doesn’t do stories that, which makes sense as it often uses alien races as allegories or...

This is the correct take. DSC should've taken place in the future, it was screaming to, but they thought they were better than Trek and could do whatever they want.

Oh man. I work in the post industry professionally - on the documentary side, but honestly 10bit HDR (HDR10) and 12bit (Dolby Vision) are the REAL technological leaps in quality NOT 4K/UHD.

Sure resolution is nice and all, but if you have a capatible TV, we can literally force change your local settings to optimize what we want you to see (people ever notice Dolby Vision settings turn on and grey out your own settings). Being able to change your TV's color settings natively directly to what we wanted out of the box in post is by far the biggest tech advancement in post to home video in decades. UHD is 4x the pixels but HDR is up to 16 billion more colors. Trust me, it's worth the upgrade.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 2x07 "Those Old Scientists"

LoglineAn accident while investigating a time portal sends Ensigns Beckett Mariner and Bradward Boimler through time from the 24th century, and Captain Pike and his crew must get them back where they belong before they can alter the timeline....

Captain_Ender ,

Honestly if there wasn't a mention of Pike's Peak why are we even here?

Captain_Ender ,

In The Break Room it is Tawny and Jack heavily suggest they hope they get to return to the set of SNW. That with Pike repeatedly like "please don't break things" suggests the two crews will run into each other again... I'm hoping Enterprise crew accidentally find themselves on the Cerritos next time!

Captain_Ender ,

Small note I LOVE that they're extending the "not all Orions are pirates" theme!!! LD did such a great job demystifying a race of people with Ensign Tendi and it only makes sense that their people have always been more than just a stereotype even during the TOS era. Was cool to see Boimler help change that perception with the Enterprise crew and confirmed when the Orion science captain saying "that's all we wanted" about being seen as explorers just like Star Fleet!

Captain_Ender ,

I'm the same, but. holy. fuck.

Season 1 is bearable, and has some neat things like The Borg 2.0 and go a little deeper into Data's story. But season 2 is absolute fucking garbage. I tired for months to get through it and finally quit on the last 2 episodes. Holy fuck it's honestly one of the worst seasons of any TV show ever not just Trek. I'm not gonna lie it kinda ruined the ironic character I grew up watching a little for several months.

So yeah if you don't want that, skip to 3. Finally went back to see it, they must have fired the whole writing staff because it's so much better. Still not amazing but they basically salvaged the best characters in the franchise.

The ego of some showeruners thinking they know best and no one gets them can be staggering. Combine that with negligent execs who only see an IP's $$$ and you get a hellbrew of no one questioning anyone.

Captain_Ender ,

Also Star Wars has LEGO which are legit high quality. Would absolutely kill for an official Star Trek UCS treatment.
