No as far as I know for consumer cars only the big three are unionized. All the foreign manufacturers with plants in the US are non union.

Yeah it is possible. So if I am remembering college correctly a chimera in biology is when two zygotes merge in the first few days of life. This means that some of the cells will divide off zygote one and some off zygote two. This can lead to stark lines in phenotype expression. Such as two colored animals.

Though also if I remember correctly the color in cars is sex linked. So if the cat is female. One X chromosome could have one color and the other X chromosome could have a different color. Depending on which X is activated in each cell it can lead multiple colors. That is how you get calico cats. I just can’t remember if that can lead to this type of color expression.

Oh and just because someone is going to wonder white is not a color. It is the lack of a color.

I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

If you check the level of both the door and the slab it will let you know which one is causing the gap. I would guess that a gasket would be the best fix. If it is the door DO NOT try to fix it yourself. Those springs can very easily kill you. I have known life long contractors that will do everything in a house but a garage door. Garage doors are not DIY.

Polymeric sand in cold weather! Creative solutions to helping it cure? ( lemmy.world )

I am about finished with an 8 ft x 13 ft patio, and the plan is to bond the pavers with polymeric sand. It’s just starting to get down to freezing temps overnight, and I’m willing to take some chances with some creative solutions to cure the sand before it gets even cooler....

Look I know everyone is saying don’t but I think you can do it pretty easily. So I have seen masons do brick and stone facades in the middle of winter. They had concrete blankets and diesel heaters. It worked just fine. I would get two tarps and a blanket and build a little tent with tarp, blanket, tarp. Then put a little electric heater in there. Newer electric heaters are much safer than the old ones with the ones exposed resistance elements. Just think you don’t have to get it really hot. Not like it is going to catch fire until a few hundred degrees as long as the heater is not touching the tarp there is no real chance of that happening. Plus if it is just barely freezing at night then it really just needs to really work for a few hours.

Can you prove that the collapse due to the invasion of the sea people isn’t real? Until you can, I fully accept it as a real type of decay.

Hypothetically speaking, what alterations to our biology/genome would need to occur in order for us to be able to safely drink saltwater?

Could we, in theory, use something like CRISPR to give a new baby replacement super-kidneys (or whatever organ it is that makes drinking saltwater be a bad time)? It seems like if we cracked that, we’d be set as a species....

Everythingispenguins ,

Well I can’t tell you the exact gene would need to be changed, there are plenty of animals able to deal with the salinity of sea water. Basically the kidney has a certain ability to concentrate salt. The greater the ability the saltier the animal’s urine is and the saltier water can be consumed.

If I am remembering correctly the threshold for salinity of water that can be consumed is up to a level just below that of the threshold of the kidney’s ability to concentrate salt.

So we would not need “super kidneys” just normal ones similar to those of one of many animals in the sea. But we might have a shortened kidney lifespan because of it.

First off does the switch even have power to it? The switch should be breaking the hot wire (hopefully). So one side of the switch should be hot. A non-contact voltage tester will tell you this very quickly and easily. They aren’t that expensive and a wonderful tool to have. Great for helping test and Trace or double checking the breaker is off before you lick the wires.

Caulking, a 100% silicone caulking shouldn’t shrink. Just curious why are you trying to seal the gap?

Everythingispenguins ,

Okay then I would fill the gap behind the wall with spray foam first then finish with caulking

Everythingispenguins ,

Who said on??? I said in the crack behind the wall. That is why spray foam has a long tube for application. If someone has to go into the wall for service spray foam isn’t going to be a problem.

Everythingispenguins ,

Ugh not even worth it. OP do whatever the hell you want.

Everythingispenguins ,

Most of the time rodents will not go through expanding foam sealant, most of the time. If you use some steel wool and then inject the foam into steel wool that would keep even the adventurous rodents out. How much heat? Expanding foam should have a heat rating. If you are worried about just hot pipes you can get a little piece of pipe insulation and put that around the pipes first.
