Just grab a cheap server off ebay

PutangInaMo ,

In that case just go with a cloud service provider

I’m not against it in it’s entirety partly because of the point you made, it is their company after all.

What I am against is the intent behind cutting employees.

First, it’s just irresponsible to grow a company outside of what it can sustain. But in the end, the company survives and profits while the employee is now unemployed. The worker suffers because the top fucked up.

Second, corporate greed. It’s fucking up people’s lives for profit it technically doesn’t need to continue to exist and be successful.

It’s a human sacrifice to an entity that doesn’t even exist.

PutangInaMo ,

It’s not a singular issue. You both have valid points.

It’s also about local economies losing the market share they had pre 2020. Every business in between your house and your job loses revenue. And all of that encompasses local tax revenue.

In other words it’s completely changed the commuting economy in it’s entirety. From the top down and those who have vested interests want that back.

PutangInaMo ,

Absolutely, it’s a huge cultural shift. And it happened quick too, which humans aren’t really good at reacting to.

I think every reason you can imagine plays a role in it. But yeah the cultural norms are a huge part of it, we’ve been conditioned to view those things as success.

Quark doesn’t pay for anything on the station. That was clarified in the series when Sisko threatened to charge him for it all. Forgot the episode though.

Picard had the bottle stashed away

Windows deployment

I’m new to Windows deployments, and I need some help. I’ve gotten as far as setting up a new system from a Windows 11 image downloaded from MS, configuring it/installing software, and then running sysprep. I made a WinPE boot thumbdrive, but I’m stuck at capturing the Windows image part. Part of my problem is that I’m...

PutangInaMo ,

You can use MDT to capture the image, it provides the scripts to do so. Just deploy a windows 11 image on a VM and use said script to capture it to the deployment share.

You’ll need WDS to install the captured image on the network though but it’s all not as difficult as it may appear.

PutangInaMo ,

Paramount+ is the service that owns all of it. Idk if they’re available there, but if not you can VPN to access or just sail them high seas yarg.

PutangInaMo ,

I was watching it on there last night

PutangInaMo ,

I haven’t seen ads run during a show, but every now and then they’ll shove whatever they’re movie or show they’re trying to push in a preview before a new episode runs. I just hit back and start it again and it goes away.

PutangInaMo ,

Yeah sorta. But it’s like if YouTube advertised other channels instead of “products”. I still consider it an ad but I think if fits loosely.

PutangInaMo ,

This was my start:

Strange new worlds (best) Picard Deep Space 9 Voyager (not a fan) The next generation (good) Back to ds9 (favorite)

PutangInaMo ,

I just finished it last week! I’ve been struggling through all the other shows and can’t get into it like I did ds9… so I started rewatching it last night and let me tell you… it’s better the second time around!!

PutangInaMo ,

Thank you!

PutangInaMo ,

I couldn’t get into voyager for some reason

PutangInaMo ,

I just binged all 7 seasons and now I’m empty inside lol I fucking love that show so much.

PutangInaMo ,

Let’s hope Star Trek is an accurate prophecy like the Simpsons. Hard times ahead but a beautiful future awaits!

PutangInaMo ,

Risa is worth it bro trust me

PutangInaMo ,

I’ve been binging DS9 after finishing Picard, which I watched because SNW absolutely blew my mind how good it was.

PutangInaMo ,

I enjoyed it, but I’m not a “trekkie” so I don’t have much to go on. The story shifts pretty drastically, but it’s all worth watching.

PutangInaMo ,

I love his music, and I love star trek. That’s all the connection I need to be happy about this.

PutangInaMo ,

Sorry the franchise didn’t cater to your unique needs and interests this one time…

PutangInaMo ,

The tone I picked up from your other comments led me to believe you were definitely heading in the toxic direction. Very self centered and condescending. But if I read that wrong I will apologize.

Nifi, kafka, waiting on management to figure out what they want. Slowly turning into a data engineer, not sure I like it to be honest.

Almost all remote-work news is negative now but was positive in the beginning of the pandemic. Have you noticed this or am I going crazy?

Earlier in the pandemic many news and magazine organizations would proudly write about how working from home always actually can lead to over working and being too “productive”. I am yet to collect some evidence on it but I think we remember a good amount about this....

PutangInaMo ,

Companies exerting control is most of my issue personally. When you realize how much of your life they own and control, you don’t want to give that back. And I never will.

PutangInaMo ,

Red dawn sequoia!!!

I’m getting 3 or 4 later this year. Working with an arborist to turn the back half of my years into a wooded forest and converting the rest to local native plants!

Fuck grass!

Building over garage. Is it worth it? ( lemmy.world )

I’m trying to assess if this is worth it before talking to contractors. I’ve done a lot of DIY remodels and hired out some but never anything of this magnitude. I want to build an addition on top of the garage and connect to the rest of the 2nd floor. Here’s some assumptions I have....

PutangInaMo ,

Or if the addition doesn’t pan out, make a screen covered patio above it?

PutangInaMo ,

We had a glulam beam replaced under home insurance that wasn’t as bad as that.

Go hire a structural engineer to inspect it though, that’s what we did. Helped immensely with our claim too.
