@georgetakei I woke up after they pulled my first "Wisdom" tooth. I felt the second, and the nurse heard me screaming as a sort of gurgling noise.
As the dentist adjusted the grip on my 3rd one, after slipping, I punched him across the room.
Then they realised the gas had worn off. He did get that tooth, under fist-impulse.

A year later, I had the 4th removed. It was 10 years before I went back to a dentist - for bike-crash repairs.

Should I visit them this decade? Why?

Why not just wear a sundress?

WellsiteGeo ,

@georgetakei
TakeiGPT, please explain, as if speaking to a Scot, what a "sundress" is. Compare it to a man's midge-kilt.

You have thermostats on your heating? I live in a cooler country than most of America, and I only turn the heating on a few days a year, to check that it's working.
Otherwise, wear appropriate clothing.

Isn't this a prime example of "shrinkflation". Either your jaws, teeth etc are growing (to accommodate a "constant biscuit"), or the biscuits are shrinking compared to "constant mouth".

@georgetakei ... [trying to remember when I last brought ketchup.]
...
[Relaxed the test to include picking up a sachet from the cutlery counter.]

Nope, still can't remember. There must have been a time I tried it, but it's over 50 years ago.

So, I was "best-manning" for a Scottish friend, posing for the pictures outside the hall in my brand-new (Irish county tartan) kilt ensemble.
A bird decides to ... well, it shares many letters with "sit" - diagonally across my shirt.

I'm the guy who carries a spare shirt to weddings. Now.

There is an etiquette for saluting? Outside the military?

Thinks : except in mockery, I don't think I have ever saluted any one, let alone any thing (flag, wreath, etc). Even if I did respect the institution or person, I'm not in any group where any "salute" has ever been a thing.

Or is there some new meaning to "Flanders"?

@georgetakei isn't passing counterfeit money illegal in America? It certainly is here - your only legal option when you find a bad note (very rare, granted) is to immediately hand it over to the police and accept the loss.
That means today, not tomorrow morning.

So, I don't know who the "Kelce" are, if they're brothers and only vaguely recognise "Wheel of Fortune as some intermediate between "Wagon Wheel" (chocolately snacks) and "fortune cookies" (tasteless paper wrapped around a biscuit with no confusing motto stamped into it).

Russia is actively working through various means to undermine our elections, sow division, and chip away at our democratic processes. And there is growing evidence that they are being aided in that by members of the Republican Party. Just how compromised are these pro-Putin Republicans? https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/gop-russia-kompromat-putin-congress

WellsiteGeo ,
@WellsiteGeo@masto.ai avatar

@georgetakei Not at all compromised. They have accepted the money, and now they're doing the service paid for.

It's not as if they've sworn any allegiance that clashes with taking the money for doing the job.

What is this concept of "constant rainfall rate"?
I've spent (counts) YEARS under canvas and tin(-plated, yes) roofs and ... rainfall varies, irregularly.
So, one speed is temporarily appropriate.

See also Voltaire, about 1760, "I apologise for sending such a long letter. I did not have time to write one shorter."

@georgetakei Uhhh, "captain's log" (or rather, master's log / vessel log ; the master (person in charge) may not be a captain) had been a feature of "independent mobile vessels" for centuries before today. Or Star Trek. And it is unlikely to go away in the next millennium.
