I read this headline in Bernie’s voice.

bionicjoey ,

Part of the problem is that even if there can’t be any legal repercussions, it’s easy enough for an employer to manufacture a reason to fire someone if they fight back against this sort of thing. So people fear being fired even if they have a right to file a complaint about it.

I love the markings on that dog! What breed is it?

bionicjoey ,

Ah that makes sense. I’ve only met Danes in the black and white cow coat, but I know that they exist in lots of colours.

bionicjoey ,

Yeah the ones I knew only lived to like 6 or 7

bionicjoey ,

It was meant to teach kids to think critically about advertising. But I don’t really think it worked since most kids thought it was real.

bionicjoey ,

My calves always get cold in the winter. But that’s probably because I wear winter jorts

bionicjoey ,

I think these managers who love open office don’t understand we need individual rooms.

It’s hard to understand while sitting in a corner office

bionicjoey ,

The dog in the background reminds me of those food chain illustrations where each animal is being eaten by a larger animal

bionicjoey ,

It’s the circle of life

bionicjoey ,

I fail to see how his sexuality is relevant

bionicjoey ,

Poodles and doodles have big stuffed animal energy. My Poochon often gets called a teddy bear

Waiter: I see you’ve finished your plate o’ puss. Can I get you anything else?

Me: Just the bill

bionicjoey ,

Trills didn’t originally have spots either

Are Trills mentioned prior to DS9?

bionicjoey ,

Maybe they do that thing that Odo/Kurzan wanted to do where they reanimate the host from the memories in the symbiont and put it into a new body

bionicjoey ,

Ezri constantly talked about how she would forget her own identity if she didn’t consciously reassert it.

bionicjoey ,

I love when one ear hasn’t learned to stand up yet

See if your university offers a co-op program. Those can often make it a lot easier to get a job after graduating. I did a 12 month placement which actually turned into a 16 month placement between my penultimate and final years of university. I ended up getting hired at the same organization once I graduated.

bionicjoey ,

This feels like a very un-Vulcan sentiment. After all, logically, there is no way of being certain what happens to the kid when you aren’t there.

Believing otherwise is based on hope/faith. Which are inherently illogical from a Vulcan standpoint.

bionicjoey ,

I’m still working my way through VOY but even as far as I am (just watched “Tuvix”) there have been many instances where he has had emotions overwhelm him. I feel like mind melding with a violent psychopath didn’t do him any favours.

In reality anything that is a benefit to the worker is more often an unrealised by product of something that benefits the company.

Worse yet, sometimes companies will shoot themselves in the foot and not do something which benefits both the workers and the company, because they don’t want the workers getting any ideas about being people with rights. Eg. Working remotely

Paramount+ confirms series order for 'Starfleet Academy' ( www.startrek.com )

While there was an announcement shortly before the WGA strike, and Alex Kurtzman confirmed the writers room is back up and at work during an NYCC panel, Paramount+ is moving forward on promotional information about the forthcoming new ‘Starfleet Academy’ show....

bionicjoey ,

Have you watched Final Space? The quality dips a bit in season 2, but seasons 1 and 3 are fantastic

bionicjoey ,

God damn. I’m almost done watching DS9 for the first time right now and was planning on diving into Voyager right after. But this makes me not want to.

bionicjoey ,

I mostly agree with you, but some benefits don’t have a publicly funded alternative (eg. Vacation days)

bionicjoey ,

True, but you also need the right to take time whenever you want without fear of losing your job. There is some negotiation of exactly how many days in a year your employer is willing to let you take off, regardless of whether or not they are paid.

bionicjoey ,

And of course it’s NBC parroting that corporate propaganda

bionicjoey ,

Why did you put them out of order? TNG -> DS9 -> Voyager

I work for the Canadian government. During an all-staff meeting for my department, our Deputy Minister said in front of God and everyone that he figured the carbon emissions were about the same between working from home and commuting to government offices. A couple months later he got promoted to be the Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

    The Earth is doomed.

    bionicjoey ,

Not who I was referring to, but he isn’t much better.

Original ‘Daredevil’ Showrunner Calls Out ‘Disney Scam’ of Naming New Series ‘Daredevil: Born Again’: It ‘Resets Contract Terms Back to First Season’ ( variety.com )

“It’s an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season,” DeKnight wrote on X/Twitter. “Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!”

    bionicjoey ,

And pay the new hire doing your job an entry level rate instead of the pay you might have had for working there a while.
