I love these little signs

Sadie can jump the fence, as a treat

I wonder if Sadie tries to teach the other goats

It might be good to post about those topics in this main instance, even if those communities were made (cross posting to both). Otherwise people may not see the posts

I donā€™t have enough experience in this field, but I found that a lot of beekeepers are great advocates for the other bees and pollinators. Stressors that affect the honeybees affect other pollinators, and the future of their business depends on having the ecosystem intact.

Similar to other fields (fishing comes to mind), Iā€™d imagine that there are people that farm sustainably/advocate well, and there are those that selfishly put their own needs ahead of others.

Overall this story sounds like a good thing, and I hope it helps all the pollinators out there. At the very least, it might further our understanding of diseases so we can prevent outbreaks in the future

I like it for some things, like an application window, since then itā€™s clear where the window ends

I donā€™t like it for everything though, like the bar at the top/bottom

Plasma and apps for mobile also getting overhauled for 6.

It's not only Plasma on the desktop that is getting a new version, as Devin Lin explains in his blog post,

https://espi.dev/posts/2023/12/plasma-mobile-towards-6/

developers are working hard on getting 6 ready for the scheduled for February.

I enjoy a lot of communities on lemmy.world, but Iā€™d recommend against moving a community into it. Centralizing more communities there doesnā€™t feel productive, and I donā€™t think it would help with user numbers.

If you do want to move, slrpnk is cool and I think this community could succeed there. Personally, I think the best solution would be to promote this community around the Fediverse regardless of if you stay on this instance or move to another one. Places like !communityPromo and the other ones listed here: lemmy.ca/post/5581032.

Thanks for thinking about these things and for working on the community!

One of these 6 beauties will become the wallpaper for Plasma 6. Which one do you prefer?

  1. Middle right & Bottom Right --> love these
  2. Top row & Bottom left --> these are nice too, just a little generic
  3. Middle Left --> itā€™s too bright and all the little details will make the icons hard to see

Those sound very nice and personal

The Vancouver Marine Mammal rescue is really good, and theyā€™re on a lot of social media. It could be worth asking if they want to get on the Fediverse.

Iā€™ll try to remember in a few weeks when I have time to reach out to more people, unless someone can get to it first!

This looks cool!

lets you update whenever you want (e.g. not before a big deadline)

This is such a big plus, I was extra cautious that an update would break something right before finals

Any resources on dual booting? I didnā€™t have a great experience with it and I feel like students may prefer that for the programs that only offer windows / macos support.

University courses are usually ā€œwe only offer support for Windows & MacOSā€, so a lot of students may give up on Linux unless they have the backup.

Some details might be different for Canada/US, but itā€™s still a nice resource

There were similar issues with unethical therapists in Ted Lasso. While itā€™s not done in the same way, there are still a few unethical therapist-patient interactions (spoiler left below). Since both shows are Apple TV, I was joking that this is just a theme for AppleTV shows.

It IS possible to have ethical therapist-patient scenes that are also interesting, so maybe itā€™s just easier for most shows to play it up.

Spoiler Ted LassoHow the former marriage counsellor starts dating Tedā€™s ex-wife and eventually gets married to her. Thatā€™s so unethical that I canā€™t think of the other examples right now.

I think with Shrinking, the characters are not perfect role models, but theyā€™re actively trying to improve and get better. They also donā€™t share a lot of the usual issues with male characters. Overall I agree with you though.
