I have a similar issue from Lemmy wanting to block kbin.social. I’ve even considered asking to just get banned from the instance just so I don’t need to deal with their users.

Very happy with how Engoron’s been handling the case. He’s not done anything unceremoniously harsh, but has been very firm in how his court will be conducted. I’m glad to see it after 3 years of judges treating Trump with tender care.

If there truly was a proper party split, that’d give progressive, and non-regressive democrats room to start ousting the geriatrics and conservatives from the party, moving the whole country’s political representation leftward while GOPα. and GOPß compete with each other to be the new #2 party.

Oh no doubt. I didn’t know Gab was mastodon though, that’s interesting. It’s pathetic how these conservative products launch as “a new social media network for conservatives”, and it’s actually… just Mastodon. Gab even moreso since it ended up relaunching as Mastodon later.

The intent of the rule was for the speaker pro tempore to serve for a short period, until the House elected a new speaker, but the House rules set no specific limit on the length of time that a member may be speaker pro tempore.^[en.wikipedia.org/…/Speaker_of_the_United_States_H…]

I’m glad he got off on the first two charges, but his lawyer argues that the third charge, “shooting into an occupied dwelling” shouldn’t be applicable since it was deemed self defence. The judge will be hearing arguments for this next month.^[newsio.com/…/alan-colie-man-who-shot-youtube-pran…]

Also, dude’s now spent 6 months in jail, only to be found not guilty of at least 2/3rds of the charges. Is there any compensation he’ll get for those missing months of his life? He’s already been punished, and yet he’s still presumed innocent.

If it’s self-defence to an extent where use of a firearm is “proportional force,” I fail to see how the venue comes into play.

The crime is proven. He admitted to shooting Cook. The crime occurred and that is accepted legal fact. The acquittal was a result of a plea of self-defence.

In later interviews, this guy says he’s gonna keep doing these “pranks”. Getting shot won’t even stop him, so there’s no hope that it’d stop potential copycats.

Good. The video game industry’s kinda terrible for everyone who works in it. I hope the eventual positive impact of the SAG-AFTRA strikes will lead to more studios and developers unionizing.

Good point! I also think it’s interesting this is days after several talk shows ended up being pressured into staying off the air pending the WGA strikes. Could be that they were gonna try using talk shows to normalize scabbing until the unilateral public backlash made it clear they wouldn’t get their way?
