I have so much fun with the trains! I run 4 track mainlines around the edge of the map, with 2 track branches to areas I need them at. Sub to my channel sometime, if you drop in I'd love to show you around. I think right now I have... 25 stations and well over 60 trains running at any time.

Blueprints will transfer, that's where I'd focus my time before 1.0 if you're waiting for that. I just load up an old save and build blueprints. Just remember blueprints unlock at Tier 3, so you won't be able to build anything with mk5 conveyors or anything at that level.

I’ve done several now with friends. I keep having one friend we play with regularly, but there have been a few that have spun off. Satisfactory is a… really weird game to multiplayer with.

For the most part my buddy and I split and do separate factories, with a big todo pile that we can pull from, but sometimes we’ll pair up and do something together. We do have a set of unspoken rules that I wrote down here somewhere in this community…

I know you would drive me bonkers lol, one of them is “Organized, no spaghetti, and no clipping”

That’s how I think it is, I can’t think of any other features I would need. As for actual recipes/items (beyond main quest somersloop and such) I don’t know what else I could need. Each factory is easily 500+ hours to fully run through everything. There are some bugs, but compared to when I started with Update 3 it’s pretty dang stable. The only stability issues I have are on dedicated server, and even then they’re mostly “Just log out and rejoin” and it’s fixed.

I don’t use buffers very much. The primary use for them I have is when doing loopback systems like in Aluminum or Nuclear to make sure the system is balanced.

If you need 60 water per minute input, and it also puts out 30 water, you can backfeed that 30 water into a filled buffer. Then, take the output of the buffer, and merge it in with a water mainline that has a valve on it for 30, and then you have a guaranteed 60 water/min for the input. The buffer ensures that the system can get itself kickstarted.

For the zipline tool it uses your primary swatch color. So every factory I do we change up the swatch to something different, this time it was a greyish purple

For Factorio or Satisfactory?

Satisfactory it’s honestly just easier to treat it like a conveyor - by that I mean there is a constant flow in and out, the train just buffers that. Like how we think of the internet being a constant flow but really it’s a series of buffers

I usually plan for a train car to get about 1/2 full while it waits for the train to come back. I don’t remember how many stacks that is, but of course you don’t want to car (buffer) to fill up and then you’re constantly behind.

I usually run my trains at 2 engines followed by 10 cars, that’s usually a very good amount where you can standardize your stations, and give you plenty of room if you fill one car there’s usually another free car on the train to add on to.

Trains are definitely different in Satisfactory, but you get the hang of it and learn how to optimize for them. I’d say they’re closer to model trains, they have a set route and just do their dropoffs/pickups and keep going.

If you are building in Satisfactory and need help with trians and their quirks, please don’t hesitate to ask!

In my dreams it would be a priority based system, but in reality it’s much more basic.

2 tracks become backed up later in game, I think last game had something like 60ish 10car trains moving around the map. I double up the lines manually. Farther lines use the inside tracks (express/fast lines) and local ones or things that split off use the outer (local/slow) tracks. This keeps the longer distance trains from needing to stop as frequently waiting for locals to get clearance.
