If this was a different franchise I would see this as hyper commercial pandering and useless plastic junk.
But every year my good friends and I have an ornament exchange party where we are supposed to bring an ornament that embodies ourselves in some way or another. This would be perfect, as obviously me being here I love star trek, animals and Data is one of my favorites. Alas on the website I don’t see a direct way to buy this in Canada.
Thanks for posting this! I was going to buy this on blu ray very soon after launch, but now I think I’ll give it some time. The only thing I worry about is that the incorrect version will be sold to retailers, who will just sell me that when I go to buy it next year.
These drops have been so good. I’ve managed to get all the hero ships in regular size, even the Cerritos which I thought I’d missed my chance on. I missed regular DS9, but I am tempted by the XL in this drop…
I really enjoyed reading this one, McMahan seems like he truly cares about the franchise. The part about basically making Orion from scratch was especially interesting to me. Also:
Q: Speaking of Prodigy — that show’s story is just a few years ahead of Lower Decks in the Star Trek timeline; Picard was twenty-something years down the line. Do you know how the Lower Decks characters have progressed during those time periods?
MCMAHAN: …I do know. [Laughs] I’m being very careful!
what are you hiding from us
what if they find Peanut Hamper in the Delta Quadrant
This interview is a great read. I like what I see of Mike McMahan’s thought processes. I’m fine with “the snub” (LD s3e10) as an end to the Mariner/Jennifer arc. Lower Decks is in good hands. Long may it run. With longer seasons! (you listening Paramount?)
Going to miss Lower Decks till next season but looking forward to the episode. What Trek series is up next? Is there a final Discovery season releasing soon or another series between now and then?
What is going on with the shrinkflation on advent calendars? Couple days back someone posted a pringles advent calendar with 12 cans. I get it, things are more expensive, but come on… advent calendars with 12 days? Wtf?
Never have been convinced that the toy branding and marketing has been targeted appropriately for Star Trek.
Playmates never quite seemed to hit the mark. They were trying to create a mass market toy but marketing for collectors.
The other side of the Paramount house has done brilliantly with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles branding, tie-ins and toys since they took them away from Nickelodeon.
While the television franchise is in good hands with Secret Hideout, bringing in some fresh perspective from the TMNT team seems very needed.

I did a video on the new 2023 Ent D vs the 1992 one. As updated and shiny as the lighting is, the hull details are really atrocious. The entire bottom side of the toy is not detailed color wise.
I was hoping to fill out the old Playmates Bridge with crew that fit in the chairs, and they got 3 out of all of them.
A decently cast type 2 TNG Phaser with good buttons & an updated tricorder with better SFX feels like a no brainer.. Marketing is weird.
A lot of the people replying to the vid said the same thing. Because the ‘92 had nacelles that detached for packaging, they were easily lost. Also, the version I bought on eBay didn’t come with a display stand from factory.
