So I've got plasma 5.27.5 on MX 23 (based on Debian 12) and am sometimes seeing a delay in the lock screen activation after waking from suspend. It's a good few seconds of whatever I had on my screen being being visible before the lock screen pops up. Anyone else get this issue?
So I often have to install and test different programs. I do not want programs to access the Internet immediately. After a while I might want to allow it, so it should be easy to allow or disallow internet access at the application level....
I have a Canon EOS R50, a mirrorless camera, which also seems shutterless - If I take pictures of, for example, an airplane with a spinning propeller, will I still get that "strange rubber propeller" effect? 1) the camera may have a shutter and I just don't recognize it or 2) the sensor is read in such a way as to produce the...
I'm in an extremely fortunate position where my Mom, upon learning about current mortgage rates and why I haven't bought a house yet, wants to essentially be my bank to buy a house. As in, she wants to fund the house, put it in my name, and I pay her a reasonable down payment and pay a "mortgage" to her at 2-3%. So what would be...

I live in a pretty old house in the midwest, built 1929, bought in '21, single-story, ~1300ish sqft, and with a large, spacious basement. Every time summer comes around I've had issues with the basement getting MUCH colder than the rest of the house (like >10 degrees F difference), presumably due to poorly-insulated floors and...
So I was thinking about some othere thread talking about climate change here. Reminded me that when I was a kid the RGV was a pretty big river. I don't see it often as I don't cross the border often, but it seems like its been dry or very weak for several years now. Has there been any discussion about this anywhere?
Most of my photography has been of relatively stationary subjects, where I just use single-servo AF and either focus & recompose or move the single focus point to where in the frame I want the subject, or largely-individual sports like triathlon. But I've struggled getting sharp shots in team sports photography with a large...
We often talk about the climate impact based on greenhouse gases, but extracting fuel from the ground and using it in exothermal processes of course also releases energy as heat....
