I'm framing up a non-load-bearing wall that has two closet doors on it, close together (the king studs for the two openings are 13" apart). Unfortunately, they are aligned such that one of the 16" OC common studs would fall within that gap. In fact, it would only be 1/2" away from the left king stud, so not even anywhere near...
Say a dissolvable spring is compressed with a bolt and nut that do not melt in a sulfuric acid solution. The spring has quite a bit of potential energy at this point since it is compressed. Assuming the spring dissolves perfectly (no breakage, just complete disintegration), what happens to the potential energy of the spring?
I'm wondering where this extra stroke came from in the kanji for cicada that I have highlighted and would like an explanation since it doesn't match up with the kanji radicals on kanshudo...
I'm relatively new to Fedora and Plasma and trying to understand it better. I see in the wallpaper selection that some of them have what looks to be a light and dark version. I'm using Kinoite and have one of these wallpapers chosen but do not ever see it change. Is this a bug? Should it change? On a similar but different note I...
I've been using flickr on and off for 20 years now, so my flickr time stream gives me a nice snapshot of how my photography has changed and improved over the years....
With Prodigy season 2 poised to drop 20 episodes on us on Monday, we're trying to decide how to manage the discussions. Each option has its pros and cons, so why not put it to the group? The way I see it, we have three options:...
Mine is Becky Chambers. I've just finished rereading all of her work, and it gave me the exact same feeling of hope I had the first time. Not groundbreaking, but soul-feeding.
So I was thinking about some othere thread talking about climate change here. Reminded me that when I was a kid the RGV was a pretty big river. I don't see it often as I don't cross the border often, but it seems like its been dry or very weak for several years now. Has there been any discussion about this anywhere?
I'm currently working on my sprinkler valve box. It sucks ass. It's dug in the ground. I'm on my knees trying to replace a Hunter valve. This is the second time I'm back here this week because replacing the diaphragm didn't fix the leak. I think I'm gonna have to replace the whole valve, but the stupid valves are in the stupid...
I'm currently traveling for months at a time and my homelab has become unreachable to me over VPN due to a unknown complication after a power outage....
I'm in an extremely fortunate position where my Mom, upon learning about current mortgage rates and why I haven't bought a house yet, wants to essentially be my bank to buy a house. As in, she wants to fund the house, put it in my name, and I pay her a reasonable down payment and pay a "mortgage" to her at 2-3%. So what would be...
So I often have to install and test different programs. I do not want programs to access the Internet immediately. After a while I might want to allow it, so it should be easy to allow or disallow internet access at the application level....
Hi, I use Rikaichan/Rikaikun at the moment but I'm not sure how to turn on pitch accent if it has it. Does anyone use a pop-up dictionary that has pitch accent, by any chance?
Running Endeavour OS Linux and just updated to plasma 6.0.5, framework 6.3.0, Qt version 6.7.1 on Wayland. I use capslock strictly as my brain refuses to learn using shift (I do touch type no problem), but as well know the capslock is very slow on Linux which always results in text like THis. So, I've found a fix for it online...
I am just a regular Linux user with a bit of additional interest in customizing. I can install things from the store, change settings in the GUI comfortably etc....
I have a fresh install of Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 40. Every time I log into the DE, the Discover application opens automatically on start. How can I disable this behavior so that Discover does not automatically launch? There are no apps configured for autostart in the KDE autostart system settings.
There are a few spots I've neglected to replace old brittle sealant (around the kitchen sink) or never sealed at all (new faucet I installed 8 months ago). Now there's black gunk accruing under and around the sealant....
