nazokiyoubinbou ,
@nazokiyoubinbou@mastodon.social avatar

@arstechnica The article wasn't clear (or I missed it.) Does "bricking" just mean they're discontinuing? Normally in electronics it means doing something to render it completely unusable (such as erasing firmware.) It's bad enough we live in such a throwaway society, but if it's reaching the point companies actually destroy their discontinued products rather than just let people keep using them we're at full blown dystopia levels now...

@rbreich Agreed that “b/c he had a bad debate performance,” is no longer the real concern. It’s the question of whether he can win, & do the job, that’s causing the heartburn. I would expect a learned man as yourself to see beyond the whataboutism. The GOP cult of personality is because THEY embrace fascism. This argument “only Joe can fix it, so he deserves our loyalty,” sounds too similar to their bowing to royalty. But if Joe can show he’s able, I’m sure dems will back him joyously.

SpaceX video teases potential Starship booster “catch” on next flight

A booster landing would be a calculated risk to SpaceX's launch tower infrastructure.

It boggles my mind that it's apparently acceptable for SpaceX to not commit to the public what they are going to do with their massive device.
I guess that's a Texas thing, though.

@arstechnica
We'll see what damage there is to the launch site by the coming hurricane before we put a lot of stock in it. Though I suspect, of anything at Starbase, the launch tower is the LEAST likely to be significantly damaged.

@georgetakei I am no celebrity, but because of my job, my daughter and I got to attend the Tree of Life awards dinner several years ago. We sat next to Jamie Foxx and Sean Combs. It was the first, and only, time I ever met either of them. Jamie couldn’t have been nicer, especially to my daughter, bringing her around the room to meet many of the stars in attendance. Combs was a total dick to her in spite of the fact that she was so obviously star struck.

Bro666 Mod ,
@Bro666@lemmy.kde.social avatar

That is not how KDE works. KDE is not a company and it doesn't absorb or embrace other projects. If you have a project you would like to develop using the advantages afforded by KDE, you can put it through the incubation process and then, when it passes, work on it yourself. The other KDE contributors that join you (if they join you), do so under their own steam. There is no management telling people where to go or what to work on, so if you stop working on your own project and have been unable to attract other contributors, development will stop.

@georgetakei My concern is about those Republican legislatures that have claimed the right to ignore the popular vote and send whatever electors they want to Washington. With no constitutional amendment protecting voters rights or even defining it as a right of citizenship, and a supreme court that shows every sign that they will support that, there is the possibility that the vote could be overwhelmingly for the Democrats and the Republicans would still claim the win in the electoral college. I am not saying anyone's strategized to prevent this.
