sadreality , in Matt Gaetz would rather have Russia than Ukraine in NATO

Low education take lol

takeda ,

Maybe, but that's not it in this case. It's from where the paycheck is coming. It matches his other views.

GOP was infiltrated, by pro Kremlin politicians. I think the word "tankies" for them is appropriate. Yes that term was for communists supporting use of taka about population. The Russia is no longer communist, it switched to fascism, but the practices stayed and the same people are still supporting it.

Nougat , in ‘Whistleblower’ who accused Bidens of corruption charged with arms trafficking

Accusations are one thing, evidence is another. It's not unreasonable to think that a corrupt person might have evidence of corruption in another person; it's also not unreasonable to think that a corrupt person might make unfounded accusations of corruption against another person.

Independently verifiable evidence, please.

Huh. I wonder if she's setting herself up for a run at something bigger and trying to be "the opposition".

If we’re going to have a political move against corruption please please PLEASE don’t let it end with the judges

needmorepto , in Marjorie Taylor Greene introduces amendment directing Biden to withdraw from Nato
@needmorepto@kbin.social avatar

Is this due to his denial of Ukraine joining NATO?

Thorndike ,

What are you talking about? Biden hasn’t denied Ukraine membership in NATO (it’s not up to him). To join NATO you can not be in a current conflict (see:the current war.) Biden would absolutely love to have Ukraine join.

Drusas ,

You are entirely right, but the person you're replying to was certainly referring to how the US and Germany together prevented NATO from providing a more concrete timeline and encouraged the vague promise of Ukraine being offered an invitation to NATO when unspecified "conditions have been met".

oSillyScope ,

Nothing that woman does or says has any rhyme or reason or purpose other than to further poison our country.

xc2215x , in Liberal CEOs were more likely to exit Russia following its invasion of Ukraine than more conservative corporate leaders

Makes sense since they are more likely not to support Putin.

The GOP, where every accusation is a confession.

So this guy knows he is about to get charged and invents some bullshit he knows will get traction with congressional Republicans so he can claim the prosecution is politically motivated.

gentleman , in News: LAPD taking selfies with Donald Trump sparks outrage

@Arotrios This is why there were former cops (and current cops) and former (and current military) participating in J6. Rat bastard traitors all of them. Often unrepentant after their slap on the wrist by DOJ.

Fortunately for Ron DeSantis, he doesn't give a shit about Florida.

Nougat , in Speak up now: What should our community guidelines be?

When I did a bit of moderation elsewhere in the past, my own rule was "no personal attacks." More to the point, "Please attack ideas as vigorously - and even as angrily - as you like. Even if I think you're wrong. But as soon as you cross over into attacking the person you're arguing with, you're done."

I think this would also cover the Nazi problem that @EffectivelyHidden mentions: "Being a Nazi/white supermacist/fascist" is an attack on other people.

HandsHurtLoL OP ,

It's good to see such a consensus on this matter.

I updated the sidebar with preliminary guidelines last night! 😄

Reminder that Steve Bannon frankly confessed Trump's Start the Steal conspiracy plans to a group of Trump insiders before the election.

https://www.npr.org/2022/07/22/1112138665/jan-6-committee-hearing-transcript

…audio from Trump advisor, Steve Bannon, surfaced from October 31st, 2020, just a few days before the Presidential election.

Let’s listen. [Begin Videotape]

STEVE BANNON: And what Trump’s going to do is declare victory, right? He’s going to declare victory, but that doesn’t mean he’s a winner. He’s just gonna say he’s a winner. The Democrats — more of our people vote early that count. Theirs vote in mail. And so they’re going to have a natural disadvantage and Trump’s going to take advantage — that’s our strategy.

He’s gonna declare himself a winner. So when you wake up Wednesday morning, it’s going to be a firestorm. Also — also if Trump is — if Trump is losing by 10 or 11:00 at night, it’s going to be even crazier. Because he’s gonna sit right there and say they stole it. If Biden’s wining, Trump is going to do some crazy shit.
