I can't believe I even have to say this, but it is not normal that the Supreme Court is taking its sweet time to decide if the president can incite an insurrection to overturn an election and maintain power. This should have been decided already. The answer is no!
@rbreich Their decision is "Immunity only applies to Trump". That was the plan right from the beginning when Trump's people allowed him to pack the court with his pet judges.
They ruled a couple of cases somewhat okay to provide cover for when he'd call on them to protect him.
They will defer this decision as long as possible to make sure Trump can be the only beneficiary of their treason.
Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
@rbreich And don't forget that crazy far-right RFK, Jr! Nothing could protect Our Democracy™️ more than ensuring the Democratic candidate has no opponent. Amirite?
@rbreich Yes, it isn't normal for the Star Chamber to delay making up some bullshit and binding the whole country to their whim! What a miscarriage of justice! For shame!
@rbreich I would guess they are wading into the weeds of Qualified Immunity. Which is chilling because if they believe the correct answer ("No" btw) will put a crack in the foundation of QI that all police misdeeds stand on and which the courts firmly shore up at every chance, they will come back with a "yes".
Again, we wouldn't be in this hell if Hillary won.
You were part of the cabal that hung her out and blamed her for everything she did as Secretary of State under President Obama but never attacked Obama- only her.
@rbreich …oh, they have an answer…they are just trying to run out the clock for someone. Because if the answer is ‘yes’ then the first thing I would do as a sitting prez would be putting Trump and 4 justices on a plane aimed at the nearest volcano.
@rbreich Trump is not the peaceful, riding into the sunset, law abiding President who after losing an election, looked forward to writing his memoirs. Instead, he attempted to overthrow the government, by influencing a mob, and strong arming electors, Governors, and his Vice-President . He demanded that everyone around him comply with his crime. His actions can never fall under Presidential immunity. It would be criminal for any justice to allow Trump immunity or delay a ruling.
@rbreich I did hear a positive explanation that they want to make it clear which things they will allow. That may help if Trump wins in Nov. I think I got that from a podcast with George Conway. Yet he will continue to break the law so why bother?
