Tujio , in SPD officers suspended after waiting 20 minutes to respond to shooting

At least it’s a suspension without pay this time? That’s the tiniest marginal bit off improvement. But really, if one of my coworkers barged into my office to tell me there’s a life-threatening emergency, then I proceeded to finish my lunch break before helping, my ass would get fired.

Awesome guy. Pisses me off that he had to work for Sinclair during all that bullshit.

Is 70 early for early onset? I mean, he was 66 when he retired.

kinther OP ,
@kinther@lemmy.world avatar

It really depends on the genetics, diet, and environment of the person. It sounds early to me, but I’ve also heard of people younger developing early signs.

Pistcow ,

I always thought the mark was between 30-40 but before 65 is considered early. That used to be a full life there but it’s hardly retirement age now.

The shirt is not the problem and it’s best he keeps wearing it. If he stops wearing it you just have a secret kkk guy.

Treczoks , in Seattle apartment values could crater by 30%, Capital Economics says

A drop of 30% means that a bit of air has been let out of the big bubble. Nothing more. Prices in Seattle are still ridiculous.

tdawg , in Seattle voters to decide on a nearly $1B affordable housing question

Over the next 20 years, Seattle is expected to need 3,500 new homes every year for people with low and moderate incomes. The levy is expected to fund 3,200 new homes in that income range over seven years.

Am I stupid or is this saying the program is literally 1/7th as funded as it needs to be (if passed)?

ADHDefy ,
@ADHDefy@kbin.social avatar

No, no, no, you misunderstood...

... See, it's slightly less than 1/7th.

kinther OP ,
@kinther@lemmy.world avatar

The wording is awful. Whoever wrote this didn’t break down the numbers very well. My wife and I struggled to comprehend exactly how much would be paid at the end of the seven years. Is it a flat rate each year, or is it ramping up each year until it hits a peak at year seven?

SpaceNoodle ,

It says over, not after, so I’d assume it’s not the latter.

los_chill , in Seattle Hard Rock Cafe to close, costing 66 workers their jobs

Kind of bummed just cause that spot had a decent rooftop bar that was cheap and had a killer view. Seems like it was kind of a hidden gem, cause you wouldn’t think to go to Hard Rock Cafe. Also one of the few bars downtown doing regular live music with no cover. Not saying it was a great spot, but I had some good times there. Hope something else cool can take over the space.

yamsham , in Another harrowing escape puts attention on open prostitution along Seattle's Aurora Avenue

Why is this article phrased as if it’s the sex worker’s fault? If you’re worried about sex workers being abducted off the street, perhaps we should be protecting them and offering safer alternatives for them to conduct their business, rather than just having their abducters become state sponsored
