Think using a metal detector on a beach, but better... Who wouldn't want to do this?

So at best, you find something rare and valuable, and at worst, you're removing trash from the waterways. What's not to love?

From my other comment:

Also finding an active bomb anywhere is extremely rare... Not even possible enough to worry about.

There isn't even one instance of an active bomb exploding... And magnet fishing is a pretty common thing. Plus generally people will call the police if they find something potentially dangerous or used in a crime. It's probably fine.

An Introduction To Class Warfare For The Software Engineer ( medium.com )

If you work at one of the large tech companies that, in the last few weeks [or months], have laid off thousands of employees, you may be wondering what the hell is going on. Especially if the company you’re working for is not actually struggling economically right now. If you work for Google, say, you must be thinking, “What...

I was laid off in March of this year. The company didn’t over hire during COVID. We lost a few people right at the start and slowly hired replacements towards the end. It was completely unexpected. The company was doing great and my team was responsible for maintaining and continuing development of a product that was still naking millions. I was laid off with a few other incredibly valuable members of the team, some of which had been with the company long before the team was bought from previous management.

I’ll never understand why it happened, and it was a very stressful time to happen so unexpectedly. Thankfully I recovered and got a pay bump but still, what the fuck.

Nah, 200k. Then as inflation increases and wages inevitably go up, we’ll be good for at least a couple decades.

I’ve dropped my average tip percentage back down to 15% (20% for good waiters / waitresses I see often). Complying with larger tip percentage is exactly what the business owners want us to do, and to think that it’s going to stop at 25%? 30%? Their default tip range will just keep climbing.

As someone who’s been to Florence multiple times, I’m not surprised something like this happened. It’s basically MAGA town up there.
