Rudolph W. Giuliani said he still had “legal defenses” in a case brought by two election workers who said he had defamed them as he asserted that the 2020 election was marred by fraud.
The only thing those people are signalling, in my opinion, is that it doesn't take much to bait people into engaging with reddit to give them traffic, can't wait for an article about how metrics are going up so investors have nothing to worry about.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) leaned in on some of the more salacious issues concerning Hunter Biden in her questioning of IRS whistleblowers who investigated Biden at a House Oversight Committee hearing Wednesday — and brought sexually explicit posters to make her point.
Reddit seems to be fully aware what users are likely to do in the current climate. Do they think people who aren’t angry will be louder than everyone else, do they have a plan for protests, or are they just letting the chips fall?

Republican senators say they are alarmed at how many Republicans, including those with higher levels of education and income, buy the unsubstantiated claims that the last presidential election was stolen.
A second Republican senator who spoke with The Hill said the growing strength of radical populism “makes it a lot more difficult to govern, it makes it difficult to talk to constituents.”
“There are people who surprise me — I’m surprised they have those views. It’s amazing to me the number of people, the kind of people who think the election was stolen,” the lawmaker said. “I don’t want to use this word but it’s not just a ‘red-neck’ thing. It’s people in business, the president of a bank, a doctor.”
How far up your ass does your head have to be to not see that your party is practically driven by conspiracy theories and falsehoods after the last decade??
Goldwater himself was considered a dangerous right-wing extremist nut by the standards of the 1960s. He was a rabid anti-Communist in the style of the John Birch Society, he was anti-Civil-rights, beloved by the Klan. He lost to LBJ partly cause the Democrats painted him as someone ready to start a nuclear war and the voters bought it. Basically on every issue but religion, today's right-wing nuts would probably love him.
Young Americans are piling the blame for their student debt balances on conservatives, according to a poll by Generation Lab provided exclusively to Axios.
While these groups are the culprit during this round, the entirely of the US government and the post secondary educational system is truly to blame. Universities have been peddling an overpriced ware to under informed children and their parents for decades. Terrifying then with the fear of losing ground in middle America while offering a product with ever decreasing value for ever increasing cost, partly because of student loans. The government has then enabled greater and greater burden upon these children and their parents by allowing special loans to groups who should never have had them, by protecting those loans from bankruptcy and by making $$ from baking interest as these groups struggled to pay. It’s a travesty. It should never have happened. Education should be free for all.

No it doesn't raise any questions, it's just more evidence on the pile that they're never honest about their justifications for doing what they do, and they'll apply their laws selectively as it suits em.
I think conservatives are fine with skimpy models at events like this around children than drag shows because it contributes to compulsory heterosexuality (comphet), whereas drag shows - they assume - will make you gay if you watch them.
Their argument has been in the past year or so "sexualizing children," but as with many of their culture wars, there's the implied statement not said out loud: away from heterosexuality.
These folks still participate in purity pledges at daddy-daughter dances in which a prepubescent girl promises her sexual purity to her father until she is married off. Tell me that isn't sexualizing kids!
I mean also, if this article were bacon I'm trying to buy, it's all gristle... Surely there's something more substantive to say about this speech out there in the politinews arena?
Because right-wingers are EXTREMELY, overwhelmingly, almost unanimously corrupt. They would never punish one of their own, no matter heinous, unethical, or repugnant the crime. They know that if they do not all stick together lock-step no matter what, their illegitimately stolen power will fall apart like used wet toiletpaper.
@ProfThadBach In all honesty though, why would we expect any better when our only major parties are far-right fascists and right-of-center liberals? That's two right-wing parties controlling everything.
I appreciate the community-focused approach he’s taking, building bridges in his community among different groups. I just am annoyed that the publication immediately highlights his old-school dirty harry style. Like, that’s exactly what we don’t want cops to be like going forward.
It seems clear to me that Sheriff Mike is doing good work. The crux of it seems to be building a coalition of local Muslim, Jewish, and Christian communities against hate, and that is so key. Why not lead with that?
