Hi all. I have a 2 storey, ~1200 sq ft home in a hot climate. I have a single HVAC unit...central air and ductwork, electric AC/heat. There is no zoning to the system. The thermostat is downstairs....
I'm framing up a non-load-bearing wall that has two closet doors on it, close together (the king studs for the two openings are 13" apart). Unfortunately, they are aligned such that one of the 16" OC common studs would fall within that gap. In fact, it would only be 1/2" away from the left king stud, so not even anywhere near...
I've tried scrubbing it several times with bar keepers friend soft cleanser and although it improves, it never goes away completely and it always comes back....
The major problem here is that the US is owned by the oil industry and they will never allow competitive EVs to be built here. The US could easily match what China's doing, but those subsidies go to oil instead.
The flippers who installed the plastic shower liner only cut the faucet handle holes big enough for the stems and I need to replace the cartridges. I used a jab saw for one but that sucked, what kind of Dremel bit can I use?
Go get a diamond hole bit and use a coke bottle full of water with a hole poked in the top to cool and lube it. Use a drill instead of a dremel. You will likely chip the fiberglass (I’m assuming that’s what you think is plastic) if you try with a rotozip bit.
You can learn on your own time. Books are cheap or free to read and there’s lots of ways to get free hands-on experience. Get off social media and into your local library!
You don’t need a degree for tons of careers, even well paying ones. There’s also tons of people who get a degree and then do the bare minimum of learning afterwards.
Assuming we are talking about an era when Sol has a thriving space industry and the Solar system is broadly colonized. Current materials science supports structures up to 8 kilometers in diameter, and if large scale graphene production is possible, up to 100km in diameter, at least according to Isaac Arthor....
There’s no reason that we would expand out at the speed of light in one direction. It’s well within the realm of possibility that we can intercept rogue planets or large asteroids to use as long time habitats. Also we can expand in millions of directions at once at sub-light speed. The journey make take a million years, but we’ll reach a million places at once.
Rogue planets come within a few light years of Earth. We could probably have a low speed, multi-generational ship to intercept one in a few hundred years. Once we’re on we’re hopefully good forever. Likely we’ll come close enough to some other interstellar bodies we could populate as we travelled. Exponential growth is bound to take off.
Homeowner with a decent amount of handiness but wondering if I’m going to bite off more than I can chew. Is it worth it to try and remove the old shower tub combo and replace it with a new one pretty much by myself? I realize this is a bit of a loaded question and can’t really be answered without knowing my skills but if...
The hardest part is lining up the new drain. You may have to trim out some drywall to angle the new tub in place, but overall the process isn’t terrible. You’ll want to wrap, cardboard and do whatever else you can to not scratch the fiberglass while you’re doing the finishing.
