Wait - that meme cop at UC Davis or wherever some years ago with the pepper spray? They tried to scrub that?

Or a different one? Because that meme was everywhere - good luck with that one.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

lol stealing this one, thanks for the much needed laugh.

Because they believe (or pretend to for political benefit) that you “kill” the fertilized embryos that you don’t use. IIRC this is one of the Catholic things that migrated into Evangelical Christianity when they started to make abortion one of their major issues.

Catholics have always been against abortion, IVF, birth control (including condoms), etc. It’s shitty but at least it’s consistent I guess, at least wrt abortion and IVF. The birth control thing is just stupid and the condom one is outright dangerous and criminal wrt STD’s.

Evangelicals just hopped on board in the past few decades when they realized they could use it to win elections. It’s really funny how they used to not give a shit about abortions, and they’re just now coming around to IVF. Thanks Jerry Falwell, you massive steaming pile of shit!

This is probably a dumb question, but if we eliminate the hydrophobia caused by rabies, would it increase the survival rate of active rabies?

I’ve been learning some about rabies and learned about rabies causing hydrophobia. This is just a theory, I’m not saying I know anything about this topic to be knowledgeable, but if we could get someone with rabies to not fear water, could they survive?

PrincessLeiasCat ,

It seems like this would be the most humane way to “treat” it, but maybe I’m missing something?

PrincessLeiasCat ,

That could also be read as you’re not hiring the right people for the job, or your company is so shitty to work for that people leave ASAP. Maybe you don’t pay well and once people have a bit of experience for their resume, they leave for a decent raise. Or more benefits.

Regardless, if I hear someone say that I will definitely be suspicious and have more questions. It’s not the flex he thinks it is.

Go ahead and cause more environmental damage.

Maine’s secretary of state disqualifies Trump from ballot ( www.today.com )

Maine’s Secretary of State Shenna Bellows ruled that Donald Trump was in violation of the 14th Amendment because of his actions of Jan. 6 and therefore ineligible to run for president. His name will appear on the ballot while the court process plays out and appeals are made. NBC’s Ryan Nobles reports for TODAY.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

This is interesting because Maine splits its Electoral College votes. In 2016 and 2020, Trump got 1 EC vote in Maine. Is it a huge difference? No, but I’m happy that precedents like this are being set.

Not sure why this is being downvoted; it makes a lot of great legal arguments showing how Musk and other right wing cancel culture blowhards like him are hypocrites on the “muh freeze peach” train.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

That’s fair. I wish that not every piss he takes would make headlines, because the fatigue it creates means that the pieces that are genuinely worth reading end up in the same pile as the ones that are shit by default.

Mike Johnson Slammed After Admitting He Uses His 17-Year-Old Son To Monitor His Porn Usage ( www.comicsands.com )

In a resurfaced clip from 2022, House Speaker Mike Johnson admitted to monitoring his 17-year-old son’s internet activity for pornography. Johnson made this revelation during a speech at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, Louisiana, where he discussed the “War on Technology.”...

PrincessLeiasCat ,

The disclosure of Johnson’s utilization of this software holds particular importance, considering his extensively documented fixation on matters related to the sexual lives of LGBTQ+ individuals. He has consistently championed the idea of criminalizing homosexual acts, voiced his opposition to same-sex marriage, and lent his support to discredited attempts aimed at altering the sexual orientation of LGBTQ+ individuals.

“And if I do get caught with this material, it’s for research!”

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Who lives in something like this other than royalty? I honestly don’t understand the point of it….you’d never see 90% of it.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Great answer, thanks! A lot of things I hadn’t thought about. Maybe we should all go in with this guy, lol

(Yes I know it’s satire)

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Thank you for also noticing the shitty shape of cars. I guess there’s a demand there, but I hate it too. I constantly bring this up, so I’m happy someone else agrees lol

PrincessLeiasCat ,

That or kids/car seats.

I’m not that old yet, and no kids, so give me my tiny sporty coupes that are easier to park.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Doesn’t government funding end (again) in like a month?

Goddamn this is a shitshow. If the government shuts down & this hasn’t been resolved, what happens?

PrincessLeiasCat ,

The dad is pretty gross, too, in his own way.

2021:

According to the database, Aplin has given to 20 Republican PACs, including Patrick, Gov. Greg Abbott, Attorney General Ken Paxton, Speaker of the Texas House Dade Phelan, and former speaker Dennis Bonnen. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Aplin has given the most to Abbott: $1,025,000 to be exact. Donations to other PACs range from $1,000 to $375,000.

Since July 14, Aplin has donated $490,000. More than half of those donations have gone toward Abbott’s PAC.

In August, Abbott appointed Aplin to the new ERCOT Board Selection Committee, which makes recommendations on appointments to ERCOT’s board. The CEO has served on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission since November 2018, and was promoted to the chair for the commission just this year.

It is gross when he donates so much money to political campaigns & is rewarded with a position on the board selection committee of ERCOT, which makes recommendations on appointments to the board that runs the Texas electrical grid.

And this is not unusual. I don’t think positions like this should be able to be bought, and I’m not fond of those who participate in this process regardless of their political leanings.

2021 (Year of the Texas freeze that killed 200 people):

But two of the three appointees selected to pick ERCOT’s next board of directors are also major donors to the state leaders who appointed them.

Ryan was appointed to the selection committee by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. Ryan is a longtime personal political donor to Patrick. His company’s political action committee, Ryan Texas PAC, contributed $100,000 to Texans for Dan Patrick on June 30. The PAC also gave $100,000 to Texans for Greg Abbott the same day.

Aplin, the CEO of mega gas station chain Buc-ee’s, was Gov. Abbott’s pick. Aplin is a major Republican donor and on June 29 he gave $250,000 to Abbott. On June 28, he gave Patrick $75,000.

Another new poll, from NBC, showed Trump and Biden tied at 46% but Trump up 39%-36% if a third-party candidate was added. A “person familiar with White House discussions” about the prospect of a candidacy from No Labels, a centrist group, said it was “concerning”, NBC said. Biden, the report added, was “worried”.

That is very concerning. Almost anyone could enter the race as a 3rd party candidate with the intention of tipping things in favor of Trump.

My SO asked me to listen to one of his NDT eps like 10 years ago. 10 mins in he was questioning the Moon landings.

I noped tf out then & there…like how old is this guy? 40? And he thinks we made that shit up for…why?

He could not get that we actually landed on the Moon and was having a famous PhD astrophysicist/professor explain it to him.

I knew then & there that brain cells were not something he had an abundance of.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Idk man, I’d refuse to go see that Q movie with mine & then stay home to question my life choices regarding relationships.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

This was ~ 10 years ago and at the time I had no idea what he looked like.

PrincessLeiasCat , (edited )

No, that is not what I said at all. Some movies have people working on them who are, very loudly, spreading dangerous things that are doing very real harm to individuals and society as a whole …things like Q. I would rather not spend money supporting them.

I hope you’re able to see the difference between the two things. Cheers.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

All good, fam, none taken at all. Cheers!

“And the total idolatry that I’m seeing from some of the supporters that are unwilling to put the constitution and the country and the conservative principles above their love for a star is really troubling.

Yeah girl…those people are cray cray. Not you tho. You’re different and special. You actually knew the guy & still did all the cray cray. The others wish they could be as cool as you. So keep on keepin on…if you go to prison, we’ll forget who you even are and that would be wonderful, so look on the bright side and know you succeeded in making at least one group of people happy.

Given the fact that the power was moving from wind-rich South Texas, it seems likely it was wind-generated electricity that was curtailed.

That complicates the grid operator’s frequent suggestions that low wind output is responsible for this summer’s requests for energy conservation. There was, apparently, wind power being produced in the state on Wednesday. The grid simply didn’t have the capacity to move it.

Fucking GOP assholes.

Even Clarence Thomas’s Law Clerks Can’t Defend His Misconduct ( nymag.com )

After the most recent revelations, Thomas’s defenders have gone conspicuously silent. Organs like National Review and conservative legal apparatchik Ed Whelan, who loudly dismissed evidence of wrongdoing by Thomas, have had nothing to say about Thomas’s many billionaire patrons....

PrincessLeiasCat ,

Please turn down the gaslight…I didn’t think to bring sunglasses.

PrincessLeiasCat ,

This is so fucked up. And how does he even “know” this? How many “injured doctors” has he spoken to?

I’m a woman, I have had several OBGYN’s, men and women. I’ve asked many about their stance on abortion because I live in a southern state, and this is of particular concern to me. They have all answered with professional and medical responses.

Never has this weird shit come up.
