I just don't get the thought process behind that action.

1 - I am a perfect being who can do no wrong.

2 - Someone says I do something bad, or that something I do isn't perfect

3 - since I am perfect, they must be lying.

4 - there is no reason to lie other than pure evil.

5 - therefore everyone and anything that disagrees with me is the devil and must be destroyed.

And no gearing, so no complex moving part assemblies..

Tar_alcaran ,

You're mostly on point. You get a loan to buy a property, and then sell it later. This is already using leverage, since you're taking in the full appreciation of the property, while only using a fraction of your own money.

But this is peanuts, what you want is more leverage. But you're not going to get it from personal mortgages and houses with easily determined value.

So you take you money and you buy, say, a run down theme park on the cheap. You draft some amazing development plans, and then you have the whole thing evaluated by your buddy, who is of course a famous theme park expert (or claims to be anyway). Turns out your park is worth potentially hundreds of millions! Now, since you own potentially hundreds of millions, it's easy to get more loans.

I need you to add these labels to the graph, for science.

Possibly you could use an interrobang‽

Vote HARDER! That will for sure work this time!

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." ~ Al Anon (1981)

If I vote harder each election, will justice eventually win?

Tar_alcaran ,

Well, feel free to do more, but generally one should start by doing the absolute minimum and work up from there.

Tar_alcaran ,

You should pick up some civil engineering books. I did 1 year before I realized I hated it, but they’re full of lovely equation that are like [Size of sand grains] x [percentage of empty space filled with water] x ([speed of water flow] + 14) x [Bill Factor]

(We add 14 to prevent the formula from breaking down)

(The Bill Factor was created by Bill Johnson and is 3.11 when it’s raining and 1.70 when it’s not. It is based on practical observations and has no theoretical basis)

Aqua regia and safety squint!

Tar_alcaran ,

To quote an old teacher: “there hasn’t been a counter so dirty a little benzene can’t clean it!”

Tar_alcaran ,

Well obviously, you should have just picked a better stock. Crystal balls aren’t really that expensive you know!

Tar_alcaran ,

Buddy, bro, my pal, finance friend.

Nvidia went up 350% over the past year. You should have written a fake story about videogames.

Tar_alcaran ,

Yeah, rookie mistake.

Tar_alcaran ,

A common beauty hack is to match your lipstick colour to the colour of your nipple, so yeah.

That’s extremely cultural, and doesn’t even stand up to the a historical test. I doubt it would carry over across planets. (Works great for TV audience though)

“Buy low sell high” is a great slogan but a lousy investment strategy.

It’s an amazing investment strategy in the same way that “just run faster” is an excellent way to win a marathon.

They’re both true, and both completely useless.

Tar_alcaran ,

I’m a safety expert specializing in hazardous environments, like this one.

Tar_alcaran ,

Top management did it for their realestate portfolio, middle management did it because if works at home it suddenly becomes obvious most of them are completely superfluous.

Tar_alcaran ,

Pelicans are absolute assholes and will attempt anything that remotely fits in their gigantic beaks, even if there’s no way to swallow it. This includes fish, seagulls, and small dogs. And apparently capybaras.

Tar_alcaran ,

You can make alcohol with wild yeasts but it’s not as controlled of a process.

Several drinks have “store barrel in cave/shed in specific region” as a manufacturing step, specifically because of the wild yeast in the area.

But only a small number, because making people violently sick is a poor business strategy.

Tar_alcaran ,

And where can I get a riot shield for only 88 bucks? Apart from wish

Does everyone learn the same gravity in school or is it different everywhere?

So, I learned in physics class at school in the UK that the value of acceleration due to gravity is a constant called g and that it was 9.81m/s^2. I knew that this value is not a true constant as it is affected by terrain and location. However I didn’t know that it can be so significantly different as to be 9.776 m/s^2 in...

Tar_alcaran ,

I have a “pi^2 = g” shirt, and every engineer I know loves it, every friend with a scheme background needs to point out that it’s wrong.

Tar_alcaran ,

You should ask these people how many digits of pi they know. My 100-something isn’t even that impressive.

Tar_alcaran ,

Huh, somehow I always imagined the Sovereign class to be bigger than the Galaxy…

Tar_alcaran ,

It’s a bit of both. Diet, volume and biology.

Humans mostly absorb iron through the duodenum, which is a very short bit of intestine near the stomach.

Herbivores, on the other hand, have either massively complex systems of stomachs, chew their cud to make nutrients more absorbable, or letting food ferment before digesting. The latter also works for humans, if you like fermented veggies.

Of course, diet also matters. Humans don’t eat all that high iron foods, but grass is a cow’s main food source and it’s high in iron.

Tar_alcaran ,

I dunno lady, have you tried sitting in the ships sweet spot?
