Being against a government of a nation methodically killing civilians in its own borders is not the same as hating a group of people because of their genetics or culture. This isn’t something that should need to be pointed out.

    Any attempt to suggest or argue to the jury that it should acquit based on principles of immunity or the First Amendment would usurp the Court’s role to decide legal issues and invite impermissible jury nullification.

    And this was likely the strategy in the first place: aim for jury nullification.

    What’s one legitimate reason to protest the menthol cigarette ban?

    Making money off the sale of menthol cigarettes isn’t a legitimate reason. That money could just as easily come from the sale of chocolates or meat products.

    Funny though; when I saw this I thought the ban was on the sale of menthol itself, which seemed concerning and futile.

    I went to do exactly this, and then realized I can’t, because I’ve never seen an ad on Google. I’ve been blocking them since I switched from AltaVista and MetaCrawler, where I also blocked ads.

    Then again, I rarely use Google these days either, as the results are usually obvious or misleading.

    But that’s only of value to people who can solve them. To everyone else it’s pointless.

    And there’s always a sizeable chunk of “everyone else”, especially when education is a low priority.

    I’ve got a better comparison that may make the Indian government think twice about what they’re doing: it’s very similar also to what China is doing to the Uyghur muslims, but without the re-education camps.

    History has shown that Israel’s approach is a failure on multiple levels. We have yet to see if China’s approach is any more effective. India really shouldn’t be trying to emulate either if it wants a lasting, durable society.

    I’m a highly skilled employee with soft skills and I reward employers who provide me the freedom I need to get the job done while also retaining other valuable employees.

    If an employer repeatedly expects me to “tough it out” that’s when I start looking for new employment and stop putting in the extra work to make others want to work there.

    Many Republicans actually believe a lot of stuff that’s true. They just tend to have One Big Issue that only the Republican candidate will support, usually something bigotry related, but for a few it’s HCGW related.
