ADVANCE Act heads for Biden's signature, but it may be too little, too late.

@arstechnica No mention of LFTR technology, which already works, uses abundant fuel, creates nearly zero waste and cannot melt down. Hopefully this tech becomes part of the program at some point.

Microsoft’s “Copilot+” AI PC requirements are embarrassing for Intel and AMD

Microsoft demands an NPU capable of at least 40 trillion operations per second.

@arstechnica Though I do believe AI will become pervasive, I'm hoping for companies to try to push it so hard and so fast that the world eventually has enough and revolts. It feels sort of like a creeping Metaverse situation in which these companies learned a few lessons but not enough to prevent them from moving too quickly.

@arstechnica I hope the test subjects are being paid extremely well. I get the feeling they're just Musk devotees that are excited enough to be fooled into brain surgery though.

Google Cloud accidentally nukes customer account, causes two weeks of downtime

@arstechnica Pretty wild how many people in these comments are blaming the victim. I mean sure, it would make sense to have their own backups (and they did still have another active backup service) but shouldn't the blame fall upon Google for failing so catastrophically?

Evidently this was a freak accident but when your whole business is protecting data, you should always be able to recover from a situation like this. Even if the failure was initiated by the customer.

@arstechnica Gotta be honest, it relied way too heavily on F-bombs and the jokes were kind of predictable. Still could be fun though.
