Who works for who depends on how organized each one is.

fubbernuckin ,

And more like a nightmare for the rest of us.

fubbernuckin ,

Well the goal of an ideal CEO is to pull more money into the company and give as little out as possible. If we saw more AI CEOs we would just have further wealth disparity in our society and workers at those companies would be paid less as the AI would optimize their pay for maximum company profits. It would be everything we hate about capitalism but amplified, and the person who owned the AI would get paid even more for doing even less.

fubbernuckin ,

This sounds like a rather idealistic outcome to me. Sure those things might happen, but dependent and scared wage slaves work for much less cost.

fubbernuckin ,

Why did you choose to put "laws" in quotes?

fubbernuckin ,

But... That's just what laws are inherently. Technically written down but not necessarily about right and wrong.

FTC Non-compete rule published in Federal Register ( www.govinfo.gov )

This goes into effect September 4, 2024. Employers with existing non-compete agreements must post the notice on page 163 (38504). After that date you may accept a job offer from anybody, including a direct competitor, and not worry about violating any non-compete agreement.

fubbernuckin ,

At that point i would simply ignore the agreement and see if they try to sue me.

Man, if only similar jobs even existed in some fields. Friend of a friend wrote a script to apply to around 1000 jobs per day last year (comp sci roles) and still took around 6 weeks to get their first interview. Other friends in the field have been searching with no luck for months now.

Also, they’re using ai to weed out applicants, use ai to generate applicable content. They lie about the job description, you lie on your resume. You’re allowed to play the game with any tools at your disposal.

fubbernuckin ,

oh yeah? And how easy is it to find a good company that can actually pay you? You think all the bad ones have a tag on their front page that says “hey, we comb through your resume with an ai”? If i had the option to only apply to companies who don’t do this, that’d be my first choice, but as it stands, the only way to find them is to play the numbers game.

Besides, this is against the point anyway. You want us to all play by the rules when they don’t have to? At that point you’re cheating yourself on the basis of “not all companies”.

fubbernuckin ,

But not before you pay them for the bottle, the gasoline, the rag, and the damages.

fubbernuckin ,

What’re you talking about “people don’t quit their jobs”. The people are part of the job and people quit for all sorts of other reasons all the time, pretty often due to the job part of the job.

fubbernuckin ,

Long shot because good luck convincing some big corporation you should have any time to yourself at all.

fubbernuckin ,

I actually buy from brick and mortar stores’ websites. That’s the viable alternative. Otherwise you can order directly from Amazon Sellers’ websites if they exist.

fubbernuckin ,

I’m pretty sure it does work, actually. That’s the problem.
