I got banned from r/soapmaking because I didn’t agree that buying soap that someone else made, melting it, adding perfume and glitter, and pouring it into moulds was soap making and not arts and crafts. I raise the pigs, render the lard, and make actual soap. I was called arrogant.

I was banned from r/republican for pointing out that the headline of an article that said that the DOJ had found evidence of widespread voter fraud in Georgia was incorrect and based on a letter written by a Trumpist political hack, Jeffery Clark, not the DOJ and that it in fact contradicted the DOJ, the Republican AG, the Republican Governor of Georgia, the Republican Secretary of State of Georgia, and Republican election officials in Georgia. I was called a troll.

I was banned from r/canada for wondering out loud if the neo-fascist premiere of Alberta who made unethical phone calls to Justice officials about a hateful street pastor charged with repeatedly breaking covid rules then having a secret recording of a phone call with the accused released wherein she fawned over him and promised that she was doing everything she could to help him would pay him conjugal visits in prison once he had been sentenced.

I was banned from r/freedomconvoy2022 when I pointed out that they had exercised their Section 6 rights to travel freely across provincial borders while exercising their Section 7 right to be unvaccinated to exercise their Section 2 rights to assemble in downtown Ottawa to hold their giant racist, western separatist, Nazi, fascis, white nationalist, sovereign citizen, anti-science, resident harassing, air pouring, business closing, hourly wage employee unemploying, street shitting tantrum.

On December 15, the Defendant summoned the incoming Acting Attorney General, the incoming Acting Deputy Attorney General, and others to the Oval Office to discuss allegations of election fraud. During the meeting, the Justice Department officials specifically refuted the Defendant's claims about State Farm Arena, explaining to him that the activity shown on the tape Co-Conspirator 1 had used was benign.

Immediately after Barr submitted his resignation, Trump initiated a meeting with Barr's successors in the Oval Office to discuss allegations of election fraud in Georgia. We also know that, later on, Trump would attempt - and very nearly succeed - in appointing Jeffrey Clark (Co-Conspirator 4) to the office of Attorney General, after Clark had drafted memos to be sent to state legislatures stating that the US Justice Department had concerns about election integrity (which was plainly false).

The section titled "The Defendant's Use of Dishonesty, Fraud, and Deceit to Organize Fraudulent Slates of Electors and Cause Them to Transmit False Certificates to Congress" is where a potential smoking gun can be found, in the context of Barr's resignation.

The weekend of December 12 and 13, 2020, is when the conspirators met and worked on drafting and delivering documentation and instructions to seven states in order to execute the plan to draft fake electors. On December 14, 2020, all legitimate electors met and formally cast their votes for president. "66. On the same day, at the direction of the Defendant and Co-Conspirator 1 [Rudy Guiliani], fraudulent electors convened sham proceedings in the seven targeted states to cast fraudulent ballots in favor of the Defendant."

William Barr knew all about this fake elector plan, and only submitted his resignation after it was executed. Based on Trump's immediate meeting with Barr's successors in an attempt to leverage the US Justice Department to join in the pressure campaign against state legislatures, it stands to reason that Trump had been trying to get Barr to do the exact same thing.

In a best case scenario, Barr would have been advising Trump that if the fake elector plan was put into action, Barr would resign. Does Barr have the integrity to do such a thing after having been such a Trump supporter for so long? I think not.

The remaining options are for Barr to resign of his own choosing, or for him to be told "resign or be dismissed." In either case, I think the reason behind was that Trump was trying to get Barr to use the Justice Department to pressure states in precisely the way Jeffrey Clark would ultimately be prepared to do, and that Barr refused to do so.

For Barr, the incentive is "If I participate in this scheme, and it doesn't work, I'm going to prison." For Trump, the incentive is "This scheme has to work, or I'm going to prison." Those incentives are in direct opposition to each other. I feel pretty confident that Trump pushed Barr out of the Atty Genl office. And I think it's because "have the Attorney General pressure the states" was always part of the scheme.

I had a ten-year-old account that had accumulated a modest amount of karma (34000?) over the years, and had no regrets editing and deleting all the posts (roughly 2700 of them).

I'd contributed in a number of niche subreddits and felt disgusted by the greed that Reddit was showing. More than anything the disgust that they would be profiting off my information was what pushed me to do the editing/deleting.

And since then, I realise I haven't really missed anything.

Caveat: I was never really bound by my karma score anyway, though, and regularly fact-checked people I knew would not listen just to "spend" my karma anyway.

Seriously, I deleted my posts and comments by my cake day (June 26th), and deleted my account on June 29th. Good riddance.

14 years, 17 accounts, ~2000000 karma. Nuked everything: deleted comments and submissions, de-modded myself, unsubbed from everything, gilded various protest content using the coins I'd been given over the years, bought a cool Apollo app t-shirt, walked out and walked away. Nope, don't miss it; I'm exploring kbin and tildes, and getting my meme content from imgur. Which is ironic in a way, because the sole reason imgur was created was because reddit refused to allow native images.

I deleted a 10+ year old account a couple of years ago. The accounts I deleted when the ruckus started were those I'd been using since then.

That 10 year old account a couple years ago bugged me awhile because I had the conceit that anyone at all on Reddit recognized my name or cared what I had to say. Eventually I got over that.

As a result, I felt almost no sting from wiping and deleting the younger ones. Maybe 5 minutes of feeling a little weird about it until I realized I'd given up exactly nothing.

Zero regrets. So far the content has been better and people have been nicer, the experience on Lemmy app I use is very similar to the 3rd party Reddit app I was using, and the official Reddit app is so much worse than both of them that I am not at all tempted to use it.

The only relevant news about Trump is his court cases.
