milkisklim , (edited ) to Star Trek in Canon Connections: DIS 5x10 - Life, Itself

You also missed the time Boimler died saving his ensigns and when he was revived, Ransom said something to the effect that a person doesn't forget their first death implying he also died at one point.

Edit: I think the Enterprise Kovich served on was the J.

IIRC, the arm swing he does is because of how he has to walk in his foot prosthetics. But you are right it's a subtle addition that sells the character

Interesting and cool if true. Thanks!

Could you please expand on what you mean by shoehorning in the Guinan scene? How would you handle it if you were the episode writer?

Edit: to be clear, I know what shoehorning is, I just want to know why you think it occured here.

milkisklim , to Star Trek in Were the [REDACTED] also a result of the Progenitors? DIS s5 spoilers

I agree. We know that there are non-bipedal sapients (eg Tinman, Tholians, some Xindi, Belugas, etc) so there must be some species not made in the image of the Progenitors.

milkisklim , to Star Trek in The Best Moment in Deep Space Nine's Greatest Episode Is a Punch Left Unthrown

That is definitely a top contender!

Not necessarily dark, but I think the most tragic is "The Sound of Her Voice" where they try to rescue the standard captain on an unbreathable atmosphere planet....

Honestly there is never any shame about sharing what you’ve learned. I didn’t ever think about this and now I’ve learned something. Keep asking questions and searching for answers!

milkisklim , to Star Trek in All 10 TOS And TNG Star Trek Movies Exit Paramount+ For Max And HBO (Again)

The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It’s by giving those people a service that’s better than what they’re receiving from the pirates

Often times season 6 refers to the movies produced between season 5 and 7.

milkisklim , to Star Trek in Happy Birthday Terry Farrell

I mean, she slept with Worf, which is the one thing she’s not supposed to do.

And like I said, there may be a difference in personalities between symbionts in how dominant they are. Plus Dax had lived through 8 pairings and knew Ezri wasn’t trained. It could regulate.

milkisklim , to Star Trek in Happy Birthday Terry Farrell

This is probably why Trill have to undergo years of training before joining, to keep their personalities more merged in.

It could also be that Dax prefers to be more passive in its relationship with its host compared to Odan. This makes sense because if the point of Joining is to gain new experiences, overpowering the host won’t let the symbiote learn.

milkisklim , to Star Trek in DS9 HistoryWhatIf. What if Sisko didn't help Weyoun destroy the rebel JemHadar and the Iconian gateway?

I believe this wasnt a Rebellion but a covert Dominion ploy to accomplish at least three things

  1. Learn more about Starfleet Ground tactics and operation
  2. Probe DS9 defenses
  3. Kill Sisko and other DS9 senior officers in a plausibly acceptable method, throwing Bajor into a political crisis, ripe for manipulation.

If there’s interest, I’d be happy to answer questions and turn this into it’s own post on c\DaystromInstitute

milkisklim , to Star Trek in Did you know there's a Star Trek version of Settlers of Catan? Did you also know Wil Wheaton and Jeri Ryan played it together? Behold.

How are you on your 9th run?! I am a hundred plus hours in and I still haven’t finished my first. Do you knowingly limit which quests you choose?

I’ve made peace with the fact I am missing some quests, but I feel there’s still so much to do before finishing act 3.

(My next run will be an all owl bears)

I’m sure there’s reports. And as a Vulcan lady with superior olfactory senses, it is only logical to become aware of what smells may occur.
