Star Trek: Infinite is built upon the core systems of Stellaris, leveraging the deep and complex system and making them its own. Aspects of these systems have been streamlined and simplified to better resonate with the Star Trek franchise.

Is this a mod then? I’m confused what this means

It’s a standalone game built with the same engine.

STOCKHOLM – September 7, 2023 – Paradox Interactive and Nimble Giant Entertainment today announced that their upcoming grand strategy game Star Trek: Infinite, under license from Paramount Consumer Products, will launch on Mac and PC on October 12, 2023. Players can now pre-order either the base game or Digital Deluxe Edition, granting them access to bonuses like skins, ships, and special voiceover. Star Trek: Infinite takes players on an interstellar saga with its emergent gameplay and complex choices, as they face the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

Players who pre-order Star Trek: Infinite will receive the following bonuses: – Star Trek: Lower Decks uniform options – The U.S.S. Cerritos, a science ship with special options for minor nations (Second Contact) – A Klingon advisor voice line, “Qapla”

The Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE) of the game includes a digital artbook, the game soundtrack, and an in-game music pack featuring iconic compositions from across Star Trek’s illustrious legacy.

Beginning decades before the Star Trek: The Next Generation era, Star Trek: Infinite grants players the power to shape the galaxy’s destiny as a faction of their choice. The immersive grand strategy game puts players in the captain’s chair to lead one of four unique Quadrant Powers: The United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire. While remaining faithful to Star Trek lore, Star Trek: Infinite introduces fresh avenues for adventure as players can explore the Alpha and Beta quadrants, govern empire dynamics, handle economic intricacies, and engage with undiscovered civilizations.

You can tell it’s the 2020s because they talk about the preorder DLC before telling you what the game is about.

That being said, it sounds interesting, I love 4x and economic submission games, and Trek of course.

I have never been so certain that I am the target demographic. This is my jam.

Paradox, who only manage to properly finish a game after 150 paid DLC and tend to break the game after every such DLC…

metaphortune , to Star Trek in Star Trek: Infinite Launches October 12, Game Trailer and Preorder Details Announced

Dunno if we’d seen it so thoroughly confirmed before that trailer that this is just modded/reskinned Stellaris. Which I’m still into!

EnsignRedshirt , to Star Trek in Star Trek: Infinite Launches October 12, Game Trailer and Preorder Details Announced

Oof, this might be the thing that gets me to lose myself in a Paradox game.

GregorGizeh ,

It looks very much like stellaris, so if this appeals to you that might be up your alley as well. Can highly recommend, forgot to go to bed many times

Advent calendar looks cool but expensive.

Stamets ,
@Stamets@startrek.website avatar

Agreed. I want it but I can’t afford to toss $150 away on that.

Why must everything good be so unaffordable.

Nmyownworld ,
@Nmyownworld@startrek.website avatar

Second the high cost of the advent calendar. Some of the items look cool, but for me, not the cost.

The new one with the blast shield?

The alien zoo (3rd to last picture) has an [Alfa 177 canine](…fandom.com/…/Unnamed_non-humanoids_(23rd_century…). 😁 I love those obscure references.

Interesting. For me it only works with the backslash. (I use Sync for Lemmy)

Does anyone know if they, or another company, (will) produce a replica of the NCC-1701 from Strange New Worlds?

I keep thinking about a series that’s part of a franchise being cancelled and sold to another “network,” and how rare that is…when was the last time that happened?

Has it happened since BtVS and Angel got split across UPN and The WB?

I love this season. This show has done for me what Discovery didn’t. Made Trek fun or thought provoking when it needs to be while entertaining existing fans and new viewers.

WrittenWeird , to Star Trek in New Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Photos — “Subspace Rhapsody”

Don’t think I have ever had such mixed feelings about an upcoming episode.

I feel like it will either be gloriously entertaining on par with Those Old Scientists or a complete cringefest, and that the fanbase is going to be equally divided.

StillPaisleyCat ,
@StillPaisleyCat@startrek.website avatar

The cast includes a Grammy winner from a successful Broadway musical, another Broadway performer, and another who toured with a Gilbert & Sullivan company.

The songs were written by alternative music musicians who have successful songs in a motion picture soundtrack and have done the same for other shows.

The preconditions for them pulling this off exceptionally well are there.

For those who happily purchase Spiner’s ‘Old Yellow Eyes’ but believe that no other forms, musical or animation, are sufficiently respectful of the dignity of the franchise, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

DharmaCurious ,
@DharmaCurious@startrek.website avatar

People forget. Star trek has already done a musical episode. Mr. Data sang the breakout pop hit “Life forms” on the bridge of the enterprise. It was glorious. It was amazing. It is literally the only thing you should watch, ever again. Just that. On loop.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Fun fact is that Spiner ad-libbed that entire song. He was only meant to hum.

DharmaCurious ,
@DharmaCurious@startrek.website avatar

Oh that makes it so much better!

triktrek ,

I know Cecile Rose Gooding is the Grammy winner from Broadway. Who is the other Broadway performer?

StillPaisleyCat ,
@StillPaisleyCat@startrek.website avatar

Carol Kane is known for her work on Broadway, not just film and television. She had a main role in the musical Wicked.

Unfortunately, I don’t see her listed on the soundtrack. Perhaps she no longer sings.

Rebecca Romjin was the one in a G&S touring company.
