Who knew the Gorn and Xindi-Aquatics could be such good friends?

Translating the website (search up Castra Sweden), it seems to be an IT consultant/management place (that has a lot of sci-fi references from Star Wars/Star Trek), so this is probably the best and most accurate translation. Good job on your Klingon! You are a glorious warrior, unlike me!

WORF: “What is a ‘Q’?”

YAR: “It’s a letter of the alphabet as far as I know”

The title got me as well, and I was sober. My heart dropped and then I reread and let a sigh of relief…

A cliffhanger… I was hoping they wouldn’t introduce those. I expect Sam and M’Benga will be the only one who makes it out alive… expecting to see Sulu and Chekov introduced soon.

Edit: Also the “They’ve been beamed up… by the gorn” and Pike standing there has the potential to be one of the most horrifying cliffhangers in Star Trek.

2nd Edit: Not Chekov…

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Nevermind, forgot that Chekov wasn’t introduced until Season 2… but Sulu is a possibility.

That’s true, TWOK requires him being on Enterprise for Season 1, or at least Space Seed. I wouldn’t hold stardates too closely since they basically pulled them out of a hat and used whatever was pulled. But he would be in his late teens.

Need to rewatch TOS then, memory’s got a bit rusty. Thanks!

This gives me more hope for Batel now that we see Pike rescuing her, If there is anyone I’m scared about it’s Ortegas.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Yeah. It’s a shame it’s gorning by so fast. And we gorna have to wait more for the next season.

The industry as a whole, and technological development in TV like streaming

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

After viewing the season trailer and the sneak peek, I became worried about Ortegas as well. Fingers crossed she doesn’t have anything happen to her, there is still a lot to develop for her.

I’ve tooken up the mantle of a Klingon emblem, to the bottom left of our Delta.

I have not, although I’ll look into that.

I’m adding a shuttlecraft to the Constitution-class. Should we name the vessel (the Constitution-class)?

Edit: The shuttle is more like a Captain’s Yacht in size…

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Good name. Sure. U.S.S. Euclid, NCC-1686 (Alex the Great + Euclid’s (330 max predicted) birth years and 1 added to front)

I’m considering making a “Gorkon” wordmark.

I’m building a crimson forcefield around the Constitution-class (Euclid).

yay! Qa’pla! (the yay is klingon for victory, not the english “yay”)

Small Voyager Easter Egg from Picard Season 2 Episode 2 ( startrek.website )

So I was looking at the skulls from Picard Season 2 Episode 2, and when I came across Commodore Y’Shi’s, I recognized something familiar on the nameplate. Turns out it was the Voth Symbol seen in “Distant Origin” (Season 3 Episode 23). So, I got the design from Star Trek Design Project, and flipped it and there it is....

GaiusGornicusCaesar OP ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

I think the way I caught the Saurians Symbol being the Voth symbol is from my excessive playing of Star Trek Online… they feature it a lot there…

GaiusGornicusCaesar , (edited )
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Whenever I just slightly win, I shout “Qa’pla!”. Whenever I get really competitive I say “Today is a good day to die.” I also use petaQ.

I know this isn’t really a mannerism or phrase, but whenever a shocking turn/twist happens I’ve been known to hum the Balance of Terror theme.

Edit: Also the hissy “feeeeeeemales” whenever someone casually calls women “females”. Thanks @catshit_dogfart

I also do the hissy “feeeeeeeeeemales” one. People who casually call women “females” are most probably Ferengi.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 2x09 "Subspace Rhapsody"

LoglineAn accident with an experimental quantum probability field causes everyone on the USS Enterprise to break uncontrollably into song, but the real danger is that the field is expanding and beginning to impact other ships—allies and enemies alike....

God I wish there was more Klingon Heavy Metal out there…

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Episode was good. Klingon part was funny. Liked how the played the TOS theme after the “grand finale” was finished.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Dishonorable. Klingons may only sing the heaviest of metals or the most glorious of operas.

GaiusGornicusCaesar , (edited )
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Hopefully they’ll do more… Luckily there are some songs and bands out there. Really if I want to satisfy my urge for Klingon it really doesn’t matter what type it is they just have to sing it in the original Klingon.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Yeah, make sense. Still like it, love the theme and love whenever it is played.

IT’S BEEN A LONG ROAD, GETTING FROM THERE TO HERE!

Unpopular opinion: The Enterprise Intro is the only one I don’t skip usually.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Fun fact is that Spiner ad-libbed that entire song. He was only meant to hum.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Or that Seasons 3 and 4 and 5 were a terrifyingly large Holodeck Program run by Tom Paris to see what would happen if the U.S.S. Discovery arrived in the 32nd century and that the U.S.S. Discovery was teleported back to the times of the Iconians?

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Feel that way sometimes, although I usually don’t care if it is a good story.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Yeah, I am very much looking foward to it too. A lot of people are doubting this episode but I think it will turn out just fine.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Wonder if they’re talking to each other, like: “Hey, after we’re done with this want to go to Quarks?” “Nah, I ran out of- ah!” “What is it?” “The panel accidentally fell off. Damn Cardies.”

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Fingers crossed Pelia doesn’t get that treatment…

GaiusGornicusCaesar , (edited )
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

I mean, there could be something to say about that, like the name of the ship IU being named after an alien race’s/human important figure (like a Tellarite Kelcie Mae scientist) or a captain of an influential starship. But yeah I agree OOU naming a ship after a person is annoying.

Edit: IU is in universe, OOU is Out of Universe.

Edit: I just learned it was named in memory after a huge Star Trek fan who was working on SNW named Kelcie May Sundquist. Rest in Peace.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

I’d barely call this an article, more like an “restatement of everything known” with some extra emphasis on the ship. But eh, it’s very likely we could see this again in the next two episode (especially the finale) or in Season 3 (or Lower Decks, for that matter) to give us more of a clue then.

Which particular episode(s) of Star Trek do you find yourself going back to?

Just interested if there’s an episode of a particular series you find yourself going back to? Not necessarily “the best” or your favorite, just one you gravitate toward for a comfort re-watch? Here’s the episodes from each series I find myself re-watching a lot:...

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Any Romulan or Vulcan-centric episodes, especially TOS ones. I just like pointy ears, I guess? Edit: changed Romulan episodes to Romulan and Vulcan episodes.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Agreed. I love Balance of Terror.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

Looks to be an episode centered on M’Benga, Ortegas, and Chapel’s times in the Klingon War. As the Vulcans would say, Fascinating. I really like the idea of the Klingon War and want to see more of it. Maybe this also could help explain the Klingon changes in-universe.

GaiusGornicusCaesar ,
@GaiusGornicusCaesar@startrek.website avatar

One of the best if not the best TOS Episodes, and that’s saying something. Although I did feel like the pacing was a little off near the end.
