ValueSubtracted OP Mod , to Star Trek in Showrunner Michelle Paradise on Star Trek: Discovery’s Cancellation, and Filming More Scenes for Season 5
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

This is news to me:

Discovery actor Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber) also weighed in, revealing that he was not able to return to set for the additional finale filming.

“[This SXSW event] has been really cathartic for me because I didn’t get to [participate in the additional filming] — I had already taken a job. So when they went back to film the the end of the series, I couldn’t join the group. I was in Thailand.

Sonequa [Martin-Green] was kind enough to call me from the party afterwards, and she ruined my makeup… and I had to go back and get it redone. [Laughs]. So this has been my opportunity to see each other again.”

I was surprised too.

Thinking about it, I guess I’ve been operating under the assumption that the additional footage was for some sort of montage, so maybe they were able to use existing footage.

Or maybe I’m completely wrong, who knows?

Not the biggest PIC fan but the art direction was stellar

Yeah, it was a mixed bag at times plot-wise, but I lost my shit when the you-know-what suddenly appeared on screen in Season 3. I was screaming and screaming at my TV. 😂

One of the best damn moments in all of ST fandom for me.

I saw it at the limited release in IMAX and I’d be lying if I said seeing that in a theater full of Trekkies wasn’t extremely awesome.

This is the Season 2 - Generations chair. I wonder what happened to the Season 1 captain’s chair, with its flip out armrest displays.

So. . . It was stolen . . . Missing for twenty years . . . and now it’s for sale.

Okay. Um, however, that’s a crime? I think?

It does seem like part of the story is missing.

Edit: that said, Propstore does have a relationship with the studio.

That looks awesome. I work in tech and having Starfleet engineers on my desk would be fun.

Aww, not on audible.

reddig33 , to Star Trek in Playmates Toys Ends Star Trek Action Figure Development

But without the action figure packaging, how will I know the names of half the bridge crew on Discovery?

ValueSubtracted OP Mod ,
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

You could try watching the show and learning their names, if that won’t interfere too much with your lazy hot taeks.

StillPaisleyCat , to Star Trek in Playmates Toys Ends Star Trek Action Figure Development
@StillPaisleyCat@startrek.website avatar

Never have been convinced that the toy branding and marketing has been targeted appropriately for Star Trek.

Playmates never quite seemed to hit the mark. They were trying to create a mass market toy but marketing for collectors.

The other side of the Paramount house has done brilliantly with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles branding, tie-ins and toys since they took them away from Nickelodeon.

While the television franchise is in good hands with Secret Hideout, bringing in some fresh perspective from the TMNT team seems very needed.

@StillPaisleyCat @ValueSubtracted
I did a video on the new 2023 Ent D vs the 1992 one. As updated and shiny as the lighting is, the hull details are really atrocious. The entire bottom side of the toy is not detailed color wise.

I was hoping to fill out the old Playmates Bridge with crew that fit in the chairs, and they got 3 out of all of them.

A decently cast type 2 TNG Phaser with good buttons & an updated tricorder with better SFX feels like a no brainer.. Marketing is weird.

HWK_290 ,

Link to the video please? I’m curious. Have half the 1992 ship kicking around somewhere down in the basement…

mwest ,
@mwest@toot.works avatar

@HWK_290 sure!

A lot of the people replying to the vid said the same thing. Because the ‘92 had nacelles that detached for packaging, they were easily lost. Also, the version I bought on eBay didn’t come with a display stand from factory.

What is going on with the shrinkflation on advent calendars? Couple days back someone posted a pringles advent calendar with 12 cans. I get it, things are more expensive, but come on… advent calendars with 12 days? Wtf?

AttackPanda , to Star Trek in New Images and Preview Clip from This Thursday’s Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 Finale

Going to miss Lower Decks till next season but looking forward to the episode. What Trek series is up next? Is there a final Discovery season releasing soon or another series between now and then?

ValueSubtracted OP Mod ,
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

As far as we know, Discovery’s final series should be next to release, though they haven’t pinned it down beyond “early 2024.”

I wonder why they bothered to include two bridge shots.

Nmyownworld , to Star Trek in Interview — Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Mike McMahan on Moopsy, Creating the Orion Homeworld, Tuvix, and Much More!
@Nmyownworld@startrek.website avatar

This interview is a great read. I like what I see of Mike McMahan’s thought processes. I’m fine with “the snub” (LD s3e10) as an end to the Mariner/Jennifer arc. Lower Decks is in good hands. Long may it run. With longer seasons! (you listening Paramount?)
