That looks really good. Do you have any pictures of the drawers?

wjrii OP ,
@wjrii@kbin.social avatar

Not at hand, but they are 1/2” plywood with simple routed grooves on hardwood runners. Two of the three have little 3d printed, scalloped pen “trays”. The third is deep enough for most brands of 50-60 mL ink bottles.

The back is just hardboard set into a rabbet, so this thing looks neat against a wall. It’s also heavier than it looks, lol, and with plenty of, umm, “character”.

floppingfish ,

What do you keep in it?

Looks great!

wjrii OP ,
@wjrii@kbin.social avatar

Fountain pens, mostly. Wouldn’t be hard to repurpose into a small machinist’s chest, though.

If by short form you mean something like Twitter, there is Mastodon. Did you mean something else?

Tangent, but I just noticed that I couldn’t post from Connect for Lemmy with a language_not_allowed error, and even in the web UI, I couldn’t post without selecting a language from the dropdown. Anybody know if this is a community setting or something else?

RxBrad ,

Also tangent, and attempting to post with Connect… (EDIT: It worked)

burgersc12 ,

I selected all the languages in my profile settings and I was still unable to reply on the app. Works on the browser tho

What function could Meta possibly need for this? Why would Instagram/Threads (Same policy it looks like) need your Credit Score? WTF?

I'd only touch this if the team behind Instander made an app for Threads and I'd still use fake info.

Is Nextcloud really part of the Fediverse? I what does it have to do with the rest of it?

VexCatalyst ,

Yes, and no. For the most part, NextCloud kinda does it’s own kind of federation: docs.nextcloud.com/…/federated_cloud_sharing.html

docs.nextcloud.com/…/federated_cloud_sharing_conf…

I had heard it’s based on the diaspora protocol but I don’t know how true that is.

That said, there is a way to link your Mastodon account to your NextCloud account so you can view posts from within NextCloud.

Machinist3359 ,

I was about to say the same thing. I sort of understand it under networking, but how do I federate my music or video w ith nextcloud?

sab ,
@sab@kbin.social avatar

There's Nextcloud Social, which is a social network built in to Nextcloud that connects to the Fediverse. Nextcloud is already a hub that does a lot of things (file storage, email, notes, calendar, word processing etc), so for business users and organizations it might make sense to have a social network solution built directly into Nextcloud.

It seems not to be in active development though. Which is a shame - it would be neat if self hosting Nextcloud gave you the option to easily have a self hosted handle on the Fediverse along with it.

How tf would a phone even have a way to provide that data to an app? Anyone know how exactly this works?

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.social avatar

Apple and Android already have them, unless you didn't fill it in.

Wander ,
@Wander@yiffit.net avatar

I don’t think my phone ever asked me about health data or religion. That’s why I find this so confusing.

fishos ,

Health data would be sourced from your fitness apps mostly. Many phones already have one built in(Fit with Google). Sleep trackers as well. Religion would be found on dating apps.

Not saying they specifically will use those to get your info, but you said you never told you phone those things, so I'm just suggesting some ways you actually did.

vluz ,
@vluz@kbin.social avatar

I don't think people realize how much data they leak daily.
