I think Roz will be there, with Alice. Romance ignites between Freddy and Alice. Freddy says something like “You’re, you’re Alice?” as a throwback to Niles meeting Daphne.

Sorry I have nothing to contribute to the discussion except:

YES!!!

Very well thought out post. It seems like they are considering pretty big measures. I think the next logical place to go for them is to whitelist instead of blacklist. Sucks for self hosters, but in general gives Beehaw what they want.

Moderation tools seem to be the biggest problem for the poster. They also say the devs don’t see it as a priority. They say they’ve even offered bounties to add better tool support. Moderation tools get brought up all the time on Lemmy—I agree that it should be the main focus or development right now TBH.

hoodlem ,

I wonder if Freddy will be a psychiatrist too. Probably not? Maybe a job Frasier doesn’t really connect with, to give the show a Martin/Frasier vibe?

hoodlem ,

Good. IMHO all governments should post to open source rather than proprietary systems.

hoodlem ,

Absolutely. I’d much rather take this medication than use a conform. Assuming of course neither my sexual partner nor I had carried an STI.

hoodlem ,

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how did they know you had blocked them?

hoodlem ,

Nobody cares, because I’m just a man. Not even my own father cares. He happily continues to see his grandkids because he doesn’t want to “take sides.” None of my cousins or other parts of my family care either. So long as I’m paying my “support.” And I can’t complain about it on social media because I’m a man. I’m a stoic. Boys don’t cry, remember?

That is the worst. So sorry you’re having to deal with that and not get support from the men in your life.

hoodlem ,

feel endlessly guilty over things I cannot control and try not to perpetuate, and never, ever dare suggest any kind of dissatisfaction with my situation.

Because of things our ancestors did long ago that has nothing to do with us right now as people.

hoodlem ,

We know that when you’re looking at deaths of despair, which is a more recent phenomenon, 3 out of 4 of those deaths are males.

I am also concerned about random acts of violence, also a recent phenomenon.

hoodlem ,

Instead, it explores new expectations for boys and men, such as emotional availability and vulnerability, traits which traditionally belonged to women. Traditional masculinity finds adaptation of those expectations challenging and difficult.

What is unfortunate is that many women still have traditional views of masculinity. Including traits such as emotional availability and vulnerability. These traits clash with their (subconscious?) views of gender roles. It can and does lead to rejection of the male for doing what he thinks he “should” do as a modern man.

Thank you for taking the time to write and share this. I’ll read more and comment when I have more time.

When I opened up to a girlfriend about anxiety I was feeling about an upcoming moment, she told me to “be a a man”. :-(

hoodlem ,

very sweet and they seem to sense when I’m feeling down and come to cuddle with me or ask me to play.

It’s so incredible how my cats can sense my emotions. Love them.

Which of the important women in Frasier‘a life do you think had the biggest impact on him? ( i.imgur.com )

Diane brought Frasier to Cheers. Lilith is the mother of his child and trigger to move back to Seattle. Hester led him down the path to choosing psychiatry as a profession. Which woman would you say had the biggest impact on our beloved radio star?

hoodlem ,

Hestie is definitely up there. She made it onto a tattoo on Gil’s arm in Frasier recurring dream.

According to a post from Zuckerberg on his Instagram broadcast channel

Seems like a missed opportunity, not making the announcement on Threads itself.

hoodlem ,

Oh lord I’m so sick of the word “influencer”

hoodlem ,

I think it could be. But right now there is not much content. In fact, as I’ve browsed, the content that is on there is not good at all.

I think it could be useful say with a Peertube instance associated with a Lemmy instance, and when you want to post a video it hosts it in Peertube.

I agree. At least from the corporate point of view, I think they see the fediverse as a small set of people who are unlikely to use the company’s product anyway.

22 instances in Antarctica? I’m guessing that’s actually those who don’t want to reveal their location? Or maybe they’ve trained some penguins as sysadmins.

    hoodlem ,

Eddie Frasier, you’re cranky. It’s time to take your nap.

    Frasier I don’t wanna!

Merry Christmas, Mrs. Moskowitz and Shutout in Seattle: Part 2 are both good ones

    hoodlem ,

One of my favorites is the one where Frasier is pretending to be Jewish for Faye’s mother. The different threads in the episode culminate when Faye’s mother opens the door to the powder room and sees Niles dressed as Jesus with a Christmas tree crammed in there with him.
