As part of his Labor Day message to workers in the United States, Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday re-upped his call for the establishment of a 20% cut to the workweek with no loss in pay—an idea he said is “not radical” given the enormous productivity gains over recent decades that have resulted in massive profits for...
Which is why we need to build class solidarity, unions, and strike. A hundred years ago, people fought for everything they could get. They didn’t say “safe working conditions or a 40h work week.” They said, “we want all we can get.”
After the network showed a clip of a young conservative activist saying that climate change was the number one issue for young voters, Fox News moderator Martha MacCallum asked for a show of hands in response to her question, “Do you believe human behavior is causing climate change?”...
That sucks. Thanks for the heads-up. I’m getting the impression that kbin might be a haven for shitheads. Is this accurate? (Asking the room in general.)
Just seven years ago, Donald Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate to win Michigan since George H.W. Bush. But as the state GOP moved further and further to the right, Democrats capitalized on the extremism to string together major victories in 2018, 2020, and 2022, when they took full control of the state...
In early June, roughly 250 Michiganders filed into a windowless banquet hall for the Macomb County GOP’s annual Lincoln Dinner. The dining tables were decorated with white tablecloths, tiny American flags, and famous Lincoln quotes, while the silent auction display off to the side featured Trump Wine, a cardboard cutout of Donald and Melania, and 30 mm rounds the size of a baby’s torso that had “Jesus is Lord!” etched into the shells.
I really find that last bit horrifying. Jebus is lord, child.
It pains me that people are suffering, but on the other hand: good.
People will have to suffer to prove to them that they’re voting against their own interests. They need to know someone who is harmed to change their vote. They must feel the brutality of what a christo-fascist state delivers to prevent one from being instituted nationwide.
I hope this nonsense is repealed as soon as possible and the suffering ends but the suffering is necessary for change to occur.
Just cleaned out mt garage, closet, and attic. No clue why I kept every single box of anything electronic/tech based in the last ten years. I just tossed boxes for phones I haven’t had in years, old CPU and heat sync boxes, boxes for 100mbps nics, old modems I don’t have anymore. I’ve never needed any of these and have...
I moved last year and tossed a bunch of boxes. But those that I kept and used in the move were for my most expensive electronics and I’m glad I did. As usual, the packaging that can withstand shipping halfway around the world was a perfect match against the somewhat incompetent movers that I hired. Mistakes were made, but none of my gear was damaged.
Vehicles under $15k are 1.6% of the market, and their share of the market has dropped over 90% since 2019. The old advice that you can get a beater and drive it in to the ground for $5k hasn't been true for years but it still seems pervasive in personal finance spaces.
My partner took her 2022 Toyota for service and the dealership offered to buy it off her. The price was only $1k less than she paid new. That’s a year and a half of heavy use for $1k if she opts to take it.
They hired a new hotshot engineering manager (the kind that makes physical things). He hates the engineering software we run. I don’t blame him, it’s crap software. My company did the same. We had a six week assessment period where everyone was required to come in two days per week. Once that data showed no major difference in output, we got a smaller office (for receiving and such) and everyone was told the office is optional. Smart business that kept people happy.
I’ve almost successfully convinced my girlfriend to ditch Windows, so I’ll probably install kubuntu on her laptop soon. She uses the pc only for very basic operations, web browsing, office suite and a little bit of gaming....
