anarchy79 , to Work Reform in Gen Z is prioritizing living over working because they've seen 'the legacy of broken promises' in corporate America, a future-of-work expert says
@anarchy79@lemmy.world avatar

I wish I could tell somehow, to people, that this is what I did. I chose “nope”. It’s not socially acceptable. Is there a hotline I can call?

catalog3115 ,

What do you mean? There is ofcourse propoganda to work hard for less.

anarchy79 , (edited )
@anarchy79@lemmy.world avatar

No I fight the system from without. And talk about an unpaid, thankless job.

I opted out, the social contract is void, I don’t accept living on the terms proposed, I’m not signing myself over to modern slavery while supporting a system devastating the planet just so some fat fucks can eat burgers all day. I would literally rather live on the street- and I do. Change has to come from people saying “no”. Guess that’s not for everyone, because by the time they get a clue, they’re already knee high in the system and can’t break free from it except at tremendous personal cost. Not everyone is willing to pay it, but I can’t reconcile that with my base conscience and if nobody steps up then we’re fucking doomed.

radioactiveradio , to Work Reform in Gen Z is forcing a workplace reckoning that should have happened years ago

Here you have to give 60 day resignation notice here, it’s not legally required, it depends on “company to company’” my employer says and refuses to pay my final month’s payment before the 60 days end. And ofc I can’t do shit about it legally.

orcrist , to Work Reform in Gen Z is forcing a workplace reckoning that should have happened years ago

The website is anti ad-block. It would be nice to post another link to an archive of the site.

mightyfoolish ,

Works fine for me. I use uBlock Origin on FIrefox.

Kusimulkku , to Work Reform in Gen Z is forcing a workplace reckoning that should have happened years ago

Lmao wouldn’t put too much faith into zoomers

@unfreeradical@lemmy.world avatar

The system is a sham.

Consciousness is growing.

The young in particular are noticing, and becoming increasingly engaged in imagining a world that is different.

Kusimulkku ,

Sure sure

i_stole_ur_taco ,

Are you willing to articulate why?

Kusimulkku ,

Yes

spacecowboy , to Work Reform in Frontier Airlines CEO says the pandemic made workers 'lazy' and less productive: 'People are still allowing people to work from home, all this silliness, right?'

Look at how fucking fat you are and tell us again who’s lazy.

Diplomjodler , to Politics in News: A confused Dianne Feinstein tried to give a speech in the middle of a Senate hearing vote and was told to 'just say aye' instead

Pretty emblematic of modern day US politics.

Hextic , to Politics in Analysis: Nearly a third of Republicans now view Trump as 'unfavorable': Pew

Not out here they ain’t. Sounds like propaganda.

fuklu , to Work Reform in Jamie Dimon says employees can go work somewhere else if they don't like long commutes into the office, thinks remote work doesn't cut it

There’s more nuance to what he said if people take time to read the article. I’m a huge fan of working from home, but it has drawbacks. One that Jamie notes is that a lack of office environment is terrible for someone starting their career, which is true.

Grimr0c ,
@Grimr0c@lemmy.world avatar

I assure you, JPMC office environments, as they currently are used, are useless. They’re making everyone operate as though we work from home, while in office. We still use Zoom for everything… 40 feet away from eachother. Its as stupid as it sounds.

fuklu ,

Do people meet in meeting rooms as well or it’s all just Zoom?

Grimr0c ,
@Grimr0c@lemmy.world avatar

All Zoom. All the time. Nobody uses the meeting rooms anymore unless they’re for 1 on 1 conversations that cant be held on the floor.

fuklu ,

Ouch, yeah that defeats the purpose

Saneless ,

And usually you go into a meeting room with a few others to do a video call with someone. Why not just do it from home?

fuklu ,

I think that’s ok? People are in different offices, but as long as you can also work with the local people…

I’m a fan of hybrid, with like 4/5 days at home, assuming people aren’t heavily distracted at home.

HobbitFoot ,

You aren’t going to get people who will be willing to accept that anything but full WFH would be good here.

themeatbridge , to Work Reform in Jamie Dimon says employees can go work somewhere else if they don't like long commutes into the office, thinks remote work doesn't cut it

If you’re just joining us, the is the “Fuck Around” part of the meme. See you soon when he realizes how right he is!

Addition , to Work Reform in Jamie Dimon says employees can go work somewhere else if they don't like long commutes into the office, thinks remote work doesn't cut it

This is the same shitbag behind WADU. He can get bent.

Tgnome , to Politics in The Supreme Court strikes down Biden's student-loan forgiveness plan, blocking debt relief for millions of borrowers

Wow, so all those PPP loans that were forgiven for businesses are acceptable but forgiving loans given to students isn’t?

uriel238 , to Work Reform in Universal basic income is 'straight out of the Karl Marx playbook,' financial guru Dave Ramsey says
@uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

So when I criticize Trump and MAGAs respond ORANGE MAN BAD they're asserting I have a bias so its not enough to just dislike Trump. I have to point out his behaviors, his characteristics, his policy decisions that drive my revulsion and public revulsion.

So when an alleged economics expert like Dave Ramsey says bearded man bad he needs to elaborate what specific notion of beard he doesn't like, or why he's wary of it. Otherwise we can just assume he's being partisan like a belligerent Dodgers fan.

Where are they living while ‘living’? Costs money to live…

bioemerl , to Work Reform in A Florida restaurant chain says boosting pay and offering better benefits helped it end its labor shortage

Key word:

Its

Paying more can't magically make more people available to work and there are real labor limits right now. It just means that if you want people, you have to make sure you're using them as effectively as possible and pay them above market rates.

But for every guy you get, the other guy loses a spot and has to compete harder.

This is a good thing.

Prunebutt ,

Or we could… Reduce overproduction a little bit? 🤷

bioemerl ,

You first

Prunebutt ,

I’m not in a political decision making position.

bioemerl ,

Well yeah, that would be catastrophic and it would also be either murder or hilariously repressive government control of reproduction

Prunebutt ,

Are you having a stroke?

unoriginalsin , to Work Reform in A Florida restaurant chain says boosting pay and offering better benefits helped it end its labor shortage

So what you’re telling me is, people do want to work? Who knew?
