He’s not “testing tolerance”. He is violating the terms of his release. Flagrantly and repeatedly. If the justice system wants to continue to command respect, they need a show-cause hearing followed by remanding him to custody until he stands trial. Just as would happen to literally anyone else intimidating witnesses or threatening the judiciary. It would be controversial only with people with no respect for the law already. It needs to be done.
Misleading title - they’re not doing this by applying 4% tax to the income of mere millionaires, they’re doing it by applying 4% to the incomes of those with annual incomes one million and over.
That’s a much, much wealthier cohort than the title implies.
Remember that this is a marginal income tax rate, i.e. it does not apply to the first $1 million of taxable annual income, only to the amount in excess of that threshold.
MA (and much of the US) has a multi-level tax system where they all stack up.
Let’s tax someone in Boston, MA making $1.5m/yr
Local = 0% State = 9% (previously 5%) Federal = 37%
So on their final dollar of income they’ll be paying 46% income tax now. Note of course because of graduated income tax schemes, that 46% is not applied to the entire $1.5m but instead only to the amount that fits into the highest bracket.
So overall income tax in Boston, MA for the highest bracket is 46%. That’s comparable to many european countries. Although brackets are probably very different.
But lawyers familiar with Trump's rhetoric said they expect the former president to wade into commentary, and personal attacks, on people involved in bringing him to justice across four separate criminal indictments in four different jurisdictions.
Uhhh ... he already has - Jack Smith, Tanya Chutkan, Fani Willis - you don't have to "expect" it.
and so far theyve done fuck all about it happening. lock this walking crime spree up already. hes a flight risk and hes attacking judges and intimidating witnesses.
So…he went to work sick where he prepared people’s food for a living instead of calling out (since they pay peanuts and he probably couldn’t afford to take off). Great.
And he was grateful for the candy! What a kind person. If anyone deserves that kind of money it is certainly him. I hope he gets to retire and never worry about flipping another burger while sick ( and nobody has to worry about him contaminating their food because as commendable as he is and as much as it is not his fault, thats kinda gross.)
