Whiskey, I believe. I bet the replicator gave him Synthohol with whiskey flavoring.

The horrible morals of a show supposed to teach them

I’ve been watching the various Star Trek shows for a while now, and while not finished I saw most of them, I believe. And I cannot shake off the feeling that the messages given by these shows, especially (and almost exclusively) recent ones are pushing horrible morals that most people seem to not care about....

atlasraven31 ,

I watched DS9 and learned a little about empathy, honor, duty, peaceful reconciliation, fitting in (Odo), friendship, etc… It seems those messages didn’t resonate with you at all.

atlasraven31 ,

Worf in particular can be stubborn and traditional. Jadzia is anything but. It is a source of conflict in their relationship.

Thanks, I didn’t even bother cause it looked spammy

atlasraven31 ,

Could we have a spinoff show but it’s just every faction except Starfleet going about their day? Klingons, Cardassians, Vulcans, Ferengi…

atlasraven31 ,

They are excellent negotiators and traders. If you need something like an ionized plasma channel or even a prototype phase cloak, the Ferengi can find it for you.

atlasraven31 ,

Is it just me or did they do a Borg Lower Decks for like 5 seconds of screen time?

Whats your favorite Star Trek season?

Not to be confused with favorite series. I think my favorite season is ENT sesson 4, which is funny because the series overall is def on the weaker end of the spectrum, and i dont think any particular episode of the fourth season is Star Treks very best, its just the season that has more good than bad episodes of any season of...

The beginning is amazing and exciting, especially Tom spilling his guts arguing to Janeway to make the test flight.

atlasraven31 ,

Enterprise is just a Quantum Leap episode.

Janeway: coffee?

Neelix: no, but we have molded brie

Russia fines Reddit for first time over 'banned content,' RIA says ( www.reuters.com )

Russia on Tuesday fined social media site Reddit for the first time for not deleting "banned content" that it said contained "fake" information about Russia's military campaign in Ukraine, RIA reported on Tuesday, citing a Moscow court....

Are they going after /r/ukraine specifically?

Putin, point on the Snoo where the NAFO touched you.

What's a faction/group/alien race in Star Trek most similar to the Tech Priests / Mechanicus in Warhammer 40,000?

By that I mean that the basic premise being: that the means of (re)creating new technology is lost, the current technology around is treated as sacred and the function marred in elaborate rituals or prayers because they don’t know how to otherwise operate it, and to a lesser extent that new ideas or (often xenophillic)...

I don’t have a big enough helmet to reply to this comment.

atlasraven31 ,

They don’t need to if they can just scavenge other people’s tech/trash.

atlasraven31 ,

People as a whole have been starting over and feeling out their place in things.

atlasraven31 ,

I suppose there is room for interpretation in “homemade.” I feel like if someone did the cooking themselves, then it qualifies. Store bought or only a microwave reheat would not qualify.

The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won. ( gizmodo.com )

The last major holdouts in the protest against Reddit’s API pricing relented, abandoning the so-called “John Oliver rules” which only allowed posts featuring the TV host. The article describes it as "the official end of the battle," which seems an overstatement to me, but it's the certainly the end of the initial phase....

If by won you mean cause controversy, drive away some users, and allienate most of those staying than Mission Accomplished. Nothing positive happened for Reddit out of this.

Be wary of spiteful Reddit users ( kbin.social )

In the past week and a half, I've noticed Reddit behaviors starting to try and poison all of the places that people are taking refuge in to get away from the toxicity, myself included. They've started to DDoS Lemmy for a while, which is a Reddit thing to do and what they're notorious of doing whenever they feel they don't like...

atlasraven31 ,

I think maybe you are on the wrong instances. Find some better people or start your own community. And we are Lemmings not Redditors anymore.

atlasraven31 ,

Care to explain what “people like you” means?

atlasraven31 ,

On a moonless night, sometimes I can see SPEZ outside my window just staring.

atlasraven31 ,

Gross TV shows are one issue but what’s this about wanting to disassociate from eating food?

atlasraven31 ,

There is an AI upscaled 7k Voyager…but I can’t talk about it here.

atlasraven31 ,

Maybe they have a less flowery and a purely functional language for those situations.

atlasraven31 ,

Kermit, his head nodding in agreement

Reddit seems all doom and gloom on the topic but what about Lemmy? And the future of Star Trek?

I saw someone on Reddit wondering why the community was so sure of Trek going dark again with Paramount not doing so well financially. Seeing the response was unfortunate as most people feel that it might be a bad time for Trek. And I guess it makes sense with the Hollywood strikes as well....

atlasraven31 ,

Disney will buy them and make crossover shows with Star Wars.

atlasraven31 ,

Neelix was Voyager’s unofficial bartender, spreading cheer to Tuvok and helping Tom Paris hit Warp 10!

Please don’t ban me.

atlasraven31 ,

He also fills the smuggler role. He pairs nicely with Garek’s information brokering.

atlasraven31 ,

Quark has the most deviant Holodeck programs…
