String theory has pretty much been let go at this point.

Why did groups of human beings migrate to northern zones of the world, and how did they survive?

After reading the abstract of the paper mentioned here I started wondering, why did human groups migrate away from southerner (warmer) places towards the north which is far colder and has less possibilities to grow crops and wild animals to hunt?...

WarmSoda ,

Could really be the same reasons for them too.
People moved for better hunting/grazing areas. To escape areas of warfare. They didn’t like the tribes rules, and more reasons.

WarmSoda ,

I agree. I won’t do four ten hour shifts. You’re just adding two more soul crushing hours to your day.

WarmSoda ,

Don’t know what jokes are, do ya

WarmSoda ,

You can’t seriously be this dense.

WarmSoda ,

Your ai needs to grasp context

You still haven’t figured out the story in the picture isn’t real? Nobody’s been interviewing anyone for five years.

'There's almost nobody left': CEO of Baldur's Gate 3 dev Swen Vincke says the D&D team he initially worked with is gone, due to Hasbro layoffs ( www.pcgamer.com )

I assume that somebody, somewhere, has done the detached corporate penny-pinching to make this all make sense on paper. But this is a disastrous move from a consumer goodwill standpoint. If you have the CEO of a studio which handed you a major commercial success publicly mourning the depth and scope of your layoffs, something's...

WarmSoda , (edited )

Why would anyone create a new studio? There isn’t a studio involved with this.

This has nothing to do with the balders gate 3 devs.

That link still says they think it was a spy balloon from China, it was just blown off course and never activated.

WarmSoda ,

I agree, the person you replied to obviously has issues

WarmSoda ,

Lemmy in general has a difficult time separating reality from “how it should be”. There’s a lot of preachers here.

WarmSoda ,

That totally doesn’t not sound like a hive mind statement.
What else are we not being?

WarmSoda ,

One case of a violent McDonald’s employee VS how many unnecessary violent cops?

WarmSoda ,

lemmy.world/c/thepoliceproblem
Show me anywhere near as many examples of McDonald’s employees failing to deescalate a situation as what’s in one week of reports posted in that comm.

What you’re trying to point out is just flat out dumb, and isn’t “hilarious”.

WarmSoda ,

What happens, is it sexy fun time? I hope it’s sexy fun time.

Edit.
It’s definitely not sexy fun time.

I was not expecting the haunted house thing…

"After I moved out of the house,” he continued, “not because of the haunting — although it had become bothersome with noises, footsteps on stairs, voices in rooms that were empty and feelings of temperature changes and so forth.

When I did WFH my boss insisted that because I didn’t have to commute I should have all my tools up before my shift even starts.

I didn’t last very long.

This same company got sued up the ass when we were in office for trying to say we needed to have all our tools up before clocking in. But somehow WFH made it ok.

WarmSoda ,

I contacted the same lawyer that sued them before and he said it wasn’t enough this time. So I just quit.

Oh I thought this was a Stellaris dlc, not it’s own game. Sweet! The timeline goals using canon and non-canon branches seems interesting. Sad to see you have to make sure your planets are employed though, that’s the one thing I don’t like about Stellaris. But oh well.

Looks cool. Thanks for posting!

WarmSoda ,

What do you mean no need to aim? I hope you’re not just letting your dick rub against the toilet bowl while you pee.

Warner Bros. Discovery Says Ongoing Strikes Will Mean $300M-$500M Hit to 2023 Earnings ( www.hollywoodreporter.com )

"The company now expects to exceed $1.7 billion in free cash flow for the third quarter of 2023, in part due to the strong performance of 'Barbie' as well as incremental impact from strike-related factors," the entertainment giant says in a regulatory filing.

I thought you were joking. But you’re not.

Zaslav will speak at a Goldman Sachs investor conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, along with other Hollywood leaders.

Niche Gravity Theory?

There’s a good many gravity theories, some that don’t even try to explain the why, only the how and other’s that involve some particle like the graviton. But anyone know if there’s any based on the energetic vibrations of our known particles with mass (those within protons and neutrons)? In other words, gravity’s space...

Emails reveal Secret Service contacts with Oath Keepers ( www.citizensforethics.org )

The emails obtained by CREW as part of an ongoing public records request offer only a snapshot of the communication between the Oath Keepers and the Secret Service. As they focus solely on the time period around the Fayetteville event, the extent of the contact Stewart Rhodes had with the agency remains unknown. The agent...

Don’t forget they “lost” all the phone records for that day.

‘We are burned out’: UAW ready to take on automakers in contract negotiations ( www.theguardian.com )

"The forced overtime – we are working to death. We are working 12-hour shifts, seven days a week, every day, week after week, month after month, year after year. We are burned out,” added Ferdinandsen. “These companies are profiting the way that they are and trying to convince the American people that they’re hurting,...

Everyone should strike. Grind it all to a halt. Show’em what is like without anyone.

WarmSoda ,

Eh AI is like automation. Everyone thought everything was going to be replaced but that’s not what happened. The law seems to be looking ok so far in regards to ai art and actors, we might actually be doing good in that regard. Gotta keep an eye on the writing side of things though.

I really wish the train strike was more effective. But it seems like more unions are waking up now so that’s really good. Truckers would be nice. I’m not sure farmers need a strike, they get subsidized, but I’m also not really knowledgeable on that industry.

WarmSoda ,

I was just thinking, this guy is 77. I hope his kids were in on this too. You just know one of them is going to try some shit in the future if they aren’t given a reason not to.

Braga: ‘I still cringe when I hear it.’ Apparently, it was a long road to the franchise’s most despised title music ( www.slashfilm.com )

Working from the oral history in The Five Year Mission: The next 25 years, this is a fascinating deep dive that answers the question “How did a recycled cover of a 1998 song written for Rod Stewart, ‘Where My Heart Will Take Me’ aka ‘Faith of the Heart’ become the title music for Enterprise?”...

I agree, the montage is really good. Showing the progression of flight through history works very well with Treks ideal of advancement.

Upstate could be any where. What kind of town was it? Farm, actual city? Small town?

WarmSoda ,

They’re so stupid over there.
Obviously you can’t stuff a CGI fox. Come on!

She’s wicked cool looking

WarmSoda ,

He’s so “good” at what he does the charges need to be amended lol

WarmSoda ,

And if you’re not dreaming you’re woke!

The president in particular is very much a figure head - he wields no real power whatsoever.

Yeah, I used to think like that in high school.

WarmSoda ,

What if we, come on guys I’m serious, what if we mixed it with bourbon?

WarmSoda ,

Many worlds is a fun idea, too. But also being regarded as not real for a while now. The cat in a poison box living or dying doesn’t mean it lives and dies.

I never heard about the false vacuum before, that’d be some good sci-fi

WarmSoda ,

“Why won’t anyone do something about this?” Asks people in charge of it.

WarmSoda ,

Why would you care that much, especially that sub?
